Parvati's 16 Mondays vrat will be different then what is followed now. It will have more significant steps frompov of removing 16 impurities, looking foreword to this track.😊

me waiting for the episode, the promo is good-but its shown at a very less frequency-imagine i had to watch tees maar khan to get a glimose of it🤣
as Minaxi said maybe its far more significant...after all whatever Parvati Ji did to achive ShivJi,set the benchmark for whatever we do today!
but i guess they will show the Tapasya too na?...i guess after this my mom will tell me-keep solha somvar vrat-youll get a hubby like ShivJi🤣he he!!!

Thanks for sharing!

It doesn;t matter to me whether this vrat was really done before or after. Clearly there are enough variations for them to choose the before.

What I do find is Mahadev's interference. But then again, this is a TV show, and they can't have the hero and heroine (as they are portraying Mahadev and Parvati to be, rather simplistically, of course) doing their separate things. They have to interact. However "cooked-up" I may feel this track is, I am actually looking forward to the clash between Mahadev and Parvati! Cuz we know the end is a win-win situation anyway! 😆

BTW, never heard of solah-somvar vrat - is it primarily a N Indian thing? Can any S Indians shed light? I personally never heard of vrat kathas etc growing up...

really? Thanks!

maybe it's not done in Tamil Nadu? I'll ask my mother. But would be interested in hearing from other S Indians too...

Anyway, my not hearing of it means nothing. 😆

Maybe thats why Shivji is known as Somnath because he was pleased by the vrat done on Somvar.
Just random guess=P

Oh lord, I asked my mom she said that she takes it every Monday oh god I forgot that, she said that Parvati had done that to get Shivji as her husband and its most significant on Shrawan month.
Oho, I am so sry for creating a confusion. The CVs are correct this time.

For those to whom this vrat is familiar - what does it entail?

Is it a total fast? Or are you allowed certain things?

@Mira, my mom eats everything except garlic and onion. And she eats only the food made by her own hands at home. Oh, and no meat allowed that day.
I think it varies from person to person.

Thanks Samana! 😊

@bold: that's very true. And region to region, I imagine.
