I haven't seen Shikaara. But wasn't that film also branded as a propaganda piece? 😆

It’s time Kashmir files must be opened . Officially acknowledge Hindus genocide & Kashmir pandits exodus . Stop trivializing things to hide the truth I.e hindus genocide .

Minty, I agree with your general sentiment, but religious terrorism exists. Sweeping it under the rug led to the issue being exploited by a bigot.

I think we should face the issue head on. All religions need to be dragged into 2022, and we should not allow some to remain in Stone Age under the pretext of secularism.

or we could just dump all the religions in 2021.

Yes Minty, even I disagree that the terrorism doesn’t have a religion. But whatever has happened to the KPs wasn’t only because of the religion. Yes the Pakistani insurgent terrorists did make use of the religion to divide and rule however, their love was/is more for Kashmir than for the Muslims or Islam. The issue is much more complicated than what it’s being presented as.

I am a Muslim and I don't feel re-telling of past event is targeting my community. The genocide is real, kashmiri Muslims mass murdered kashmiri hindus is also a fact how is that targeting an entire community.

Also, it must be apparent by now how much i hate that s*um of a human viviek agnihotry but what I fail to understand is the forum's bin painde ka stance. in general they say "keep art and artists separate" when its about pak actors but the stance changed when its about VA. Keep your hatred aside and objectively watch the film.

@Minty - I respectfully disagree with your opinion

I usually agree with most of your posts hence the question

No. I do agree that religion does play a factor in terrorism.

But I don't think religion is the only factor. There are people of all faiths who succumb to bigotry and violence. There are extremely religious people of all faiths who never get violent or bigoted. So there are reasons beyond religion why some people get radicalized into terrorism and others don't. Class, education, race, ethnicity, social status, economic mobility, social power, upbringing, and so much more - all these play a role in who get's radicalized and who doesn't. That is why I feel blaming religion alone is an oversimplification and insufficient.

Agree. But IMHO we still need to express our views, because every opinion matters in the big picture to keep things in the perspective. That’s how the mankind is still able to sustain despite so much negativity.

I kind of sort of agree. If and when I watch it, I'll post thoughts in the recently seen movies thread.

But right now I am trying really hard not to engage seriously in any thread. A few years back, I would have had lengthy posts and arguments. But now I am more cynical. It's too exhausting. It's easier to just let things be.

The fact was that during the British rule most apple orchards were owned by the few rich Kashmiri Pandits who had homes in the UK and most were related to royalty. The laborers were the rest of the Kashmiri Pandits who were poor and the majority poor Muslims. When we defeated Pak in 1971 they started this propaganda of Hindu vs Muslim and it worked well cause the poor lived a very poor life in Kashmir, the rich enjoyed luxury, when the killing first started, the rich pandits moved and the poor got massacred. It's not just Pandits many Sikhs used to live in Kashmir too.

Having said that, the movie Kashmiri Files is making news for all the wrong reasons. Agnihotri is a BJP stooge who is villanizing one entire community whereas terrorism knows no religion. If you want to watch a beautiful, sensitive movie on the Kashmiri Pandits, watch Shikara instead, a Vidhu Vinod Chopra-directed movie which released in 2020.

Disagree . How showing truth about Hindus genocide , kp exodus is targeting ? all this to hide d truth . Truth deserves to be heard .

You said he VA villainised entire community but what if the km muslims did what they did. You don't want people to get personal but the movie was made after taking testimonials of kp families: people who were directly involved during the exodus are you implying they aren't telling the truth? Aren't you being personal by minimising their suffering!

And Weren't there hindus who actually decided to play politics to get the maximum of the situation instead of helping?

I get that VA is no saint and some there are people who just want to spread hate but it is on them to actually know that targeting a minority will never be right. The least kp's deserve is some catharsis rather some half baked movie so that some feathers aren't ruffled.

Just wondering - was 26/11 carried out by atheists? Enjoying the rewriting of history by IF members.
