I want to read this thread now. So Amusing. But win for the book, if people could argue over it. No wonder Rowling refuses to let it rest easy.😆

I like Bard's work but I really think he was Chetan Bhagat of his time, knew how to sell his shit well.😆

J&K is one problem that refuses to resolve *sigh*

China already made it clear it won't follow Hague's declaration. But I expect International Pressure on it to back off . Heard Indians were hoping to court Philippines -wrong move as of now, that country would rather make peace with China than rely on a country which is not only far off but a soft power compared to China.

J&K is absolutely Govt. failure this time. You have had decreasing rate of militant recruitment in the valley. Good participation of people in local elections but this Mufti-BJP alliance has literally failed to perform in terms of Governance and I believe we need to relax Afspa a bit ,we cannot revoke it completely but we need to work around it. Mehbooba is anyone not a good leader to manage the State , she has been listless without her father. Damage started wtih VK's spat with UPA govt and he leaked out few things , then complacency now. For good 8 months the State Govt. struggled to even exist.

But truthfully, Kashmir is a political card for countries, parties and nothing more .They will never resolve or stop using it.

There may not be much left in that old thread now as many of the posts would stand obscured as members a/c terminated.

Sad wasn't it. Bunch of self proclaimed liberals who go around lecturing about liberalism, tolerance, equality and what not, at the sight of criticism of a fictitious character all their liberal values fly out of the window.

A fictional character shouldnt be underestimated. They can be larger than life and therein lies the appeal 😊 ..but HP was boring.

HP is smart writing . Rowling knew what would sell. She keeps it simple and very basic , yet ran with USP, got to credit her . It's a good escape.
But what why were everyone fighting over it? Was it about Draco pairing up with Hermoine or something?😆

@Souro - Serial fan wars over fictional characters are pretty darn ugly and amusing. Fiction or mytho is known to have cult following over centuries .

The bold- Thats the crux! From what I gathered during one of my recent travels even the men in uniform seem to realize that.

Oh nothing that serious 😆. It was simply something to do with... how anyone could possibly could go so gaga over a fictional character , thats all😛... but it dragged out quite a bit with some fans getting over senti ,...and then followed some accusations and name calling etc etc etc but things got sorted out later so alls well that ends well I guess.

So true 😆 I recall some funny incidents that a colleague who had been active on the new Mahabharata section narrated. They had a Karna vs Arjuna fan team. Both had some valid points though.😆

Karna and Arjun debate is hella amusing. I find Karna , your typical Gul show's Male Character . Palace of Illusion was such a cheesy love triangle , would have sold more as a k-drama. Karna is a character that has become all saleable in Modern times- oppressed, underdog ,caste..i don't see him like that in the text though.

These same people indulge in bashing film stars, TV stars and their fans, when asked by mods not to, they sermonise about liberal values and forum being for everyone they should have a right to criticise and even bash whoever they want without the fans complaining. But when it came to their own favourite imaginary character they failed to follow through.

Bang on! In my experience, that's an accurate observation on liberals in most discussions I encountered not just in DM but on other message boards / forums too.

The kicker in that Harry Potter thread was that they liked that main character because he was a flawed / imperfect guy (or some nonsense like that). You would think, by that logic, they would love all of us here on this forum, but no, apparently it doesn't work that way.
