the other aspect that i think relates to all this is the uncertainty principle. It makes the world probabilistic, thereby introducing unpredictability. Does it tie in with the sense of conscious experiences? Also, is the unpredictability a fundamental feature or is it because of our inability to compute anything beyond a probabilistic curve? I think the amazing thing here is that apparently there is uncertainty not only at the particle level but also at large-scale macro levels.

beyond that, i think if we drill down into every particle, even those considered elementary today, we might find them to be energy... or at least analogous to energy. So while we are happily making distinctions between the physical world and the virtual one of our minds, it might well be the case that they are both fundamentally different manifestations of energy. Energy that can be stored at different locations/ reservoirs, energy that can transform, energy that is conscious of itself and energy that can respond to other energy (much like energy differentials)... Just a bunch of random thoughts i know... but somewhere i feel that all these aspects are intertwined, much as would be the case in a holographic universe...

That sounds perfect ...If everything is made of those fundamental particles and the energy <<All of uncertain nature ...We might wanna extend the Holographic principal and add a new DIMENSION to the hypothetical picture where everything is uncertain. << This is where all observers might exist. May be in a superposed state ? ..That can justify the Schrodinger's theory as well...All the confusion arises because of that one tricky state of SELF ...Whereby we limit ourselves to our own functional reference frame. So if a God like entity or any other entity outside this domain can observe us, they might see us all as one entity as in everything, The oceans, humans, rocks, trees ...forming a totality in this observable domain ...

And this is why I guess the scriptures insist on losing the feeling of self and realizing the Oneness ...For we all know that what existed was the energy and everything else is illusive <<<<because it won't exist after the laps of some stipulated period. Making the energy the Only Reality ...that can't be altered.

Hahaha ...Yay !! ..😆 ..You are the only person apart from ME who got that so darn right ..😛 ..I can now safely tell ya how I play that wonderful ping pong game with my soul ever day ...Um ..Would ya like to join ? If you abide by the rules and always let me win ..😛
On a serious note: 😊 ...The death is irreversible ( And its scope is definitely beyond it's clinical definition ) ...Jesus resurrected ..and there is Ashwatthhama who never died ..<<< All connotative and conceptual I guess ...This is why I insisted we don't go on the events ( And the stories ..Mythical stuff ) and that we must look at that part of the scriptures that deals with the reality and describes it well in a way that appeals to our logic and senses.. ...Also you might wanna note that the Death of Jesus and Krishna etc ...was to denote the ultimate, unavoidable truth of everyone's life ..The death << Which is only something ( That no mundane entity ..Demons or even the Incarnations can evade ) that I guess is certain ..So Jesus mighta resurrected as the tendency ...to warn the forces of evil that the God ll keep intervening on every instance when such a need arises ...😊

This was known definitely Wright Brothers were born ...😆 ..Many thousand years before that ...The history, the civilization was lost by some means ..( Like Dwaraka that got immersed deep inside the ocean ..only to be discovered later ) ..So this proves their technological might ..( Also read about their life spans etc ..) ...These stories were told before anyone had thought people can fly one day ..
[A] True that ! 😛 The Indians were also quite adept at navigating the oceans long before the Europeans set foot in the country. The Indians were carrying on trade through sea routes even during the time of the Maurya dynasty. Their knowledge in metallurgy was also quite advanced as evidenced from the rust free iron pillars of Sarnath and one at the Qutab Minar!
Noe to your point about the records ..Now what is that you consider as a record ? Only something that's written ? ..The greatest record is the one that is held in the minds. Cause the brain is the material source of all records. Upanishadas are the source of knowledge that were told verbally and propagated through generations of Vedic scholars . Who then scripted that and most (Major ones = Mukhya ) date back to the time when the scientists had no whiff of what they know these days...😆

I meant record that could be produced as evidence fpr the sceptics 😆
I guess I must stop before I start to sound like an Incarnation myself...Tongue...Um ..Or may be I am ? ...I so feel like one at times......Um ..Do you feel the same ? ...😆 ..Yehahaha ...😆 ..How the heck did I forget to tell ya about my coming ...IDK ..😆

Oh no worries if you forgot 😛 after all it was me who sent you packing down to earth 😆

Hahaha ..Right ..That's how they smuggled me and the books of philosophy I wrote back in time ...😆 ..I have filed a suit against em ..for trading me for a price so lame ..😆

Aww..I see...but I don't think the skeptical ones can ever be satisfied ..Unless the evidence is give by someone named Heisenberg or Einstein ...😆

Aww ...Haha ..I never forgot that Ango ...You gift packed me so darn well...😆 ..and this is why they ( On earth ) accepted the parcel ...And now contrite over that ...😆 ..Huh! There is a bad news for you ..They might send me back to where I started from ..I mean to YOU ...😆

As if rules would matter where definitions are amnable to change 😆

yeah, earlier the definition of deah meant the cessation of respiration and heartbeat whereas now we have the person declared dead while the heart and lungs continue to function though with mechanical aid. 😊

i think there's a whole lot of ambiguity about consciousness. Is it information? Is it the ability to have some degree of interior experience? It seems to me that every organism that is sensitive to it's environment has that. The cat, the dog, the bacterium that responds to external stimuli or physical vibrations. It is actually our ego that makes us think we are unique in having consciousness, but who are we to say that other organisms do not have at least a small degree of consciousness..Where too do we draw the line...

thanks birdie. You ve raised a lot many questions !! Lets see how many we can try to address, Consciousness is often used in a broader term as in an all pervading consciousness. So what makes us confine our ID to a separate physical self ! Perhaps the form can perceive only a form. For consciousness to be aware of itself, it has to abandon all paradigms of knowledge and concepts. Thoughts are images and attributes of the conceptual identity arising and subsiding on the screen of consciousness. The fundamental constituent of the consciousness construct is 'am-ness'. It is too intangible to comprehend but is the substratum of our 'being-ness'. Intellect, mind and thoughts are derivatives of this primordial being-ness. Being-ness is a priori and precludes any acquired knowledge or conditioning. The am-ness drives awareness and animates the Self. The Self, veiled by identity and ego, is oblivious to this am-ness, which is its very source. It merges into the form, giving the form an illusion of control and doer-ship.

To remain in the state of being-ness is meditation. To dwell in the am-ness unadulterated by any form, identity, ego or desire is not easy. Lapsing into illusions created by the mind is inevitable. Illusion is a sensory 'warp'. Creation is an illusion that is spun as a web by the mind and intellect on the substrate of 'being' It is a film running on the screen of am-ness. Reverting to the state of being-ness requires effort. To know that pure being-ness is the nature of the true Self is knowledge and realisation. The falsely identified self constantly needs to reaffirm itself through gratification by sensory stimulation. Am-ness does not seek any gratification or reaffirmation since it is unidentified being-ness.

Am-ness is the precursor of the mind and intellect. It is pure consciousness. It is unaffected by time and form. Pure consciousness will remain eternally even after the temporary form is extinguished. It is just that it will become impersonalised. Am-ness is also called the soul or atman. Am-ness will remain undifferentiated consciousness until it inhabits a mind-body form, somewhat like the undifferentiated primal cell wherein life begins.

To identify with am-ness, one has to remove all the veils one has acquired in the course of time – name, identity, beliefs, concepts and "knowledge". Meditation serves to gradually dissolve all illusion and at the end just leaves a residual am-ness that is the state of Brahmn. All identities, objects and concepts are time-bound and are mere mirages. They are fleeting and temporary.

Am-ness is self-effacing; it is unidentifiable in the form. It is beyond concept. The mind cannot conceive its predecessor. Am-ness is sookshma or intangible. The mind works in the realm of the tangible. Intelligence and thought tend to deny the intangible. These derivatives then detach from the stalk of their origin and become autonomous. This autonomy manifests as ego and identity. These are all pseudo-entities, null and void in the absence of am-ness that is the source as well as object of Creation.

Lots of great posts and discussions but if we are borrowing ideas, let's please cite them as well, unless we read them long back and don't remember where we came across the material.

Here's a good introduction to neural correlates of consciousness

http://www.scholarpedia.org/article/Neural_correlates_of_consciousness

So it looks like unless we establish a clear causal relationship between the "mind" and the physical electrochemical interactions, it's "no dice!" for materialism / physicalism?

Did we do a good job of defining the "mind"?
