No father who is emperor will allow his son future emperor to marry a maid

Even ashoka married commoners and loved them like Kaurawaki and dharma but they could not be empress that was only for royal wife

Auragnzeb loved a dancer hira and even celebrated holi for her and ready to drink wine bec she said but he never marry and make her empress

Dara sikoh loved a street dancer but did not make her chief consort or marry her legally

A crown prince cannot marry a maid or dancer and never make her malika e hindustan (even in imaginary serial) without opposition etc she can be a cocubbine not a wife and nebver malika e hindustan the empire will break etc if salim insists on marrying anarkali because society runs as per certain rules

Society and citizens shall not accept it, nor will other royals or other empires and even family members

The entire mughal court hated Nur jahan because she interfered in ruling and the male dominated society was not ready to accept orders from a woman even a Malika e Hindustan. They only tolerated her for jehangir once he was not there immediately her most loyal people revolted. Thats why shah jahan refused to allow mumtaz to speak or advice him in court as he has to look as if his wifes not dominating him or making decisions for him. Even today if a ministers wife advice him ppl will say shes dominating or hes hen pecked husband.

Respect comes in society usually because of your birth and class and caste or even gender be it 16th century(or even today many times)

I do not even like that jodha is begging anar to leave salim - the real jodha would have given a command not begged to leave her son
