Some family affairs and work kept me really occupied for last few weeks.. I missed this thread and you all as much as I missed our Lata Rafi Mukesh Asha and all!

It was Rafi's birth anniversary and it was so good to read on SM the way he is being celebrated and loved.. posting a song from film mere mehboob.

What I love about this song is minimal use of music and instruments. It's just Rafi's voice that you listen to 90% of time in the 7 mins!!

Rafi singing to the tune of ‘Ye dil na hota bechara’, the tweet states it was recorded for Baharein phir bhi aayegi but that can’t be right since OPNayyar composed the music for that movie and not SDB. Does anyone know which movie this song was recorded for originally?

Thanks Goofy. Rafi and Roshan was indeed a delectable combination. So many wonderful songs from that duo.

The second article was very well -written too, a balm for my Rafi-loving heart because I truly think this man does not get the attention and love these days that he deserves.

Thank you, Mousy! Maine Dastan-e-Rafi (documentary) dekhi hai but Rafi Sahab's interview was such a treat! It's said he was very shy and did not like to appear before the cameras and did not like giving interviews so there are only a couple of them. He comes across as so humble and unassuming. That smile on his face is so ubiquitous! Hamesha smile hee karte the woh!

Biography wala video bhi dekha nahi hai maine.. will come back after watching it.

So it seems the tweet was correct and SD Burman who was the original MD for BPBA composed this tune and it was sung by Rafi. Then he fell sick and could not complete the soundtrack, Guru Dutt was in a hurry so he opted for OPN instead and SDB used this tune later in Jewel Thief.
