Whoa! Awesome pic ⭐️!

I think there's an FB page dedicated solely to the Old Mahabharat with lots of trivia, videos, etc

PS: Gufi Paintal is on Twitter 😲 ?!

Yes Gufi Paintal and many others are on Twitter.
I used to think of Shree Krishna actor as real Krishna and Arun Govil as real Lord Ram. As a kid when I saw Arun Govil in another serial called Pal Chhin I was shocked to see him in suit! Sounds funny but I actually exclaimed Ramji kis avatar mein aa gaye? Yeh aaj bhi zinda hain?😆

I remember Band of Boys. Most of them acted in shows also. The song Meri neend udd gayi hai, mera chain kho gaya hai is from them only no?

Make way for the boys

After Viva, it's the turn of a boy band to storm the music world.

AFTER THE success of the girl band, Viva, a firm called Clea Public relations went through a similar process of auditions and groomed a five-member boy-band - the first for Indipop. Called A Band Of Boys (ABOB), they just released their debut album - Yeh Bhi Who Bhi, (Musicurry, CD, Rs. 99).

From Hindustani classical lessons by Ustad Qadir Khan, to dancing and aerobics by Danny and Michelle, fitness lessons from Vijay Alva, and vocal training courtesy Hariharan (Indian) and Leslie Lewis (Western), the boys were rigorously trained for 14 months. And the effort shows in their performance. Karan Oberoi (KO), Sudhanshu Pandey (Ansh), Chaitanya Bhosle (Chin 2), Sherrin Varghese (Cherokee), and Siddharth Haldipur (Sid) are the ABOB fivesome. Karan has acted in 200 commercials and a few TV serials. A theatre freak as well, this guy has no fears of any sort in front of the camera. Sudhanshu, has dabbled with modelling and has worked with designers such as Rohit Bal, Gabbanna, JJ Vallaya, and Ritu Beri to name a few. Chaitanya is a disk jockey with the All India Radio and a B-school graduate rolled into one. He has its own rock band called "Oxygen" and happens to be Asha Bhosle's grandson.

Sherrin would be a familiar face for those who used to watch Movers and Shakerson Sony TV. He was the lead member of the show's Rubber Band and has been involved in a few thematic rock shows, and in the process, has collaborated with musical giants like Zakir Hussain, Sivamani and Colonial Cousins. Siddharth has been inclined towards Punjabi music apart from being a professional dancer.

With their attitude and energy clearly showing on screen, thanks to a well-shot video, these guys can be credited with the feat of displacing the "Kaliyon Ka Chaman" song from the top slot - a song, which everybody thought, would never slip down from its number one slot.

The first single, "Meri Neend" is infectious with its energetic vocals and a mix of "desi" and "pardesi" instruments. "Gori" and "Tera Chehra" are slower numbers, while "Tera Chehra" reflects the vocal versatility of the group while "Elements" highlights Lezz's music. "Tirchi Nazar" is a "tapori" style "janatha" song and "She Drives Me Crazy" has some fast paced accomplishments, which are impressive.

ABOB have hit the jackpot with their debut album. Give them an airing, people.

These guys sure are going to change the way Indipop looks and sounds.

This made me really emotional , especially all of them crying and hugging each other, the actor playing Arjun (Firoz?) looked particularly inconsolable 😭

You are right, there is no other intro music so iconic as this one. Still get goosebumps listening to it

Oh a bit of trivia...did you know that originally it was Juhi Chawla who was roped in to play Draupadi? But because production got delayed for many years and her blossoming movie career they had to cast Rupa instead.

Hehehe even his profile pic is a cartoon of Shakuni Mama 😆

Actually watching that making video even now I felt it weird to see everyone in normal clothes just chilling out 😳. Blame ingrained childhood images for that 😛

Ohhh now I remember them, yeah that was their song. Never was a fan of theirs maybe that's why forgot about them 😆

Only name familiar out of this is Sudhanshu Pandey. Can't believe he was part of a boy band Shocked

One of the boys was in serials like Swabhimaan. Sudhanshu anchored a cookery show with Tarla Dalal. I was not a fan either but remember their song.
I know Juhi was to play Draupadi. Thank God she didn't. She just did not have the power and fiery appeal of Rupa. Rupa's voice and piercing eyes are perfect for Draupadi!👏

Rupa was born to play Draupadi, she was so intense when the moment commanded it while also restrained and subtle, her performance is one of the most genuine and sincerest, nothing felt forced in her act, i can go endlessly about her and others of the same show
Band of boys had that and also nain katari akhiyan, quite catchy tunes

I adore Vital Signs music and their pop vids were quite good too, the nostalgia just oozes out when you listen to their music, my favourite is Ajnabi, the way it begins on a atmospherically haunting note and the beats flow in as the tune picks up, i was obsessed with Pakistani music at one point, but i like to return to their music especially..

I agree no one had a commanding presence enough to play Draupadi like Rupa 👏 Hers was clearly a performance that would be difficult to top.

Yeah Vital Signs songs are especially nostalgic. Ajnabi is a big favorite of mine apart from Na Tu Ayegi
