pri..
you NEVER wear footwear inside a temple. remove it outside then enter.
if the wedding is in the morning; keep it simple. wear a salwar suit or churidaar. or simple anarkali. light jewellery. and lighter makeup.
if it is in the evening.. go for blingy anarkali or designer suit and may be chunky earrings.
as for gift..
for hindu wedding silver gifts are popular. try silver ganeshji idol. very auspicious.
you probably have to sit for long hour since pooja takes quite a long time to finish. note.
(err this may sound stupid but if you are leftie, try and remember to put forward right hand for taking prasads.😆. and akshada (tumeric rice and flowers are to be thrown at the newly weds.).
i believe i covered everything.😳..
good luck girl. have loads of fun and tell us in detail how much you enjoyed.
cheers.!

Not sure if this is correct but I just viewed a scene in-between for about a minute or so. Tell me if I am wrong or not, k. Neways, thx for the warm welcome girls and "Happy Rose Day" A rose for each of you and your individualty and even if I may be late as it is night here when it is day where you all are. maybe you should give dhoop kinare a try first. Nayy i am not selling DK😆.

@blue - very true one does not want to be dependent on another for their daily existence and as Pri said to live a life of a vegetable. Alex
Nim and Priya,

Nim, I googled Saraswatichandra after I read your initial post on this upcoming show and as I said before, I am not sure if I will view the show or not but here is what I think: If the show is sort of based on the novelist Govardhanram Tripathi's 1887's book and the story borders around on what Wikipedia's synopsis description states, and I quote here "The original novel, written in five parts from 1887 to 1902, narrates the lifestyle and ideology of people in the early 20th century. It depicts the social fabric of that time: extended family life and the beginning of the meltdown of old customs and traditions". I may start viewing the serial with a questionable mind because as you said and rightly so in a previous post about getting reviled and trampled if anything is posted against the show or its' cast members. I know it is for entertainment and the channel execs and show makers would have to add some unrealistic scenes and actions to raise trp's, but still, I believe and you said so yourself, there is a certain percentage of the audience who would like to see some intelligence in the script which is then carried on and through the strong powerful performance by the actors/actresses. If this serials stays true to the difference of old customs and traditions compared to modern times and the person viewing it can truly get the essence of the story despite the added drama and effects then I will continue to watch. I say this because being brought up in a modern Western world, over the years I have seen the breakdown in moral and social standards spanning and between all age groups. It takes extra effort in modern times in teaching and teaching by example too, just to make one's own family members continue with respect for others, remembering to keep in touch, say thank you, spend time with each other and especially how important it is to know and care about the extended family especially our elders and children. Sure, everyone and families should have their own individuality and independence but the basic moral and ethical Golden Rule of any culture "Do unto others as you would have them to do to you" should still be instilled and remembered. This topic is like everything else has its' positives and negatives but can be a learning experience for all involved. It would be interesting to see how Sanjay Leela Bhansali feature the storyline on each episode.

Whew! long winded rant huh''.

Nim, if you say the silence and easier understood language in the Dhoop Kinare serial speaks for the show itself, I will give it a try.

Alex

me always love reading your thoughts alex.
they are deep and profound.
whatever you said.. you said it so well. so true.
"Do unto others as you would have them to do to you"
if only people would remember and follow this golden rule... world would be a way better place. difference of opinions is beautiful thing. life will be boring if everyone thinks the same. the trick lies in accepting others view and making peace with the fact that one need not think alike as long we can respect eachother.
and yes alex.. nothing like family and loved one. we really should cherish them (i should call and mail my loved ones more often. i really should).
about the story of saraswati chandra..
here is the complete story...

Saraswatichandra (Gautam Rode) is raised by his stepmother (Monica Bedi), who doesn't consider him as her own. In spite of being treated like an unwanted, Saraswatichandra grows up to be a compassionate, intelligent and charming man. However, when his father decides to get him married, he does not relent to the idea. Nonetheless, his father still goes ahead with his alliance to Kumud (Jennifer Winget) who hails from an affluent family. When Saraswati hears of this, he sends a letter to Kumud – we think it will be an email in this case – explaining his predicament and calling off the alliance. But Kumud replies to his letter. And in a series of mails to each other – the inevitable happens – they fall in love.

One day, Saraswati takes off to meet the love of his life. When his stepmother learns of his actions, she poisons her husband's mind forcing him to call off the wedding without informing his son. When Saraswati comes back, he gets another letter from Kumud informing him that she is marrying someone else.

Kumud, who is now married to Pramadh – an illiterate, unsophisticated, alcoholic, who frequents brothels, is in depression. But Saraswatichandra re-enters her life, this time as Navinchandra. He is employed by her in-laws. Was it fate or planned? Will they get back together or not? There are too many questions and very few answers.

i believe the original story is tragic. this is one dukhiyaari story girl.
no definetely am venturing no where near it. Nopes!

WORD pri!
i dont mind crying a little provided there is light at the end of the tunnel. this story looks like the light at the end of the tunnel is probably headlights of incoming train.
i for one watch serials to feel good, happy, touched. if i look back i should think of it with nostalgic smile. the way i think of hiphip hurray, arohan(old DD serial) and real few gems in between.
didn't watch barfi. now that you are talking so highly about it may be i will.😳..
