Part 2

"Yesss…!!" Geet let out a whoop of joy… not unmixed with smugness!

She couldn't resist a sidelong glance at Maan to see how he would respond to this.

Maan shot her an amused glance, his lips twitching at her triumphant whoop, and silently acknowledged her achievement with his eyes and the slightest incline of his head.

Geet was satisfied. Finally he had admitted it. Nonsense, this Maan Singh Khurana na!

With a great flourish, Geet smartly changed the gear to the second and then the third, and the car moved ahead smoothly, powerfully. Gratefully, mentally added Maan with a grin, lazily lounging on the seat, more at ease now that his car stood in no mortal peril!

Geet slid her hands along the luxuriously leathered steering wheel. Some feeling this was, she decided, a feeling of power; to know that she had the control of this great, black vehicle right in her hands…yeah, she definitely had this feeling of power right now, Geet thought dreamily…

"Geet take the first right… and then turn right again to go back to the main road…" Maan broke in to her thoughts.

Geet came back to earth and then grinned to herself. Now for some fun with the great Maan Singh Khurana!

"No." she replied sweetly.

"No? What do you mean 'no'?" Maan asked blankly, knitting his eyebrows together.

"No as in no, I won't take the first right… or the right after that" Geet said cheekily, savouring each moment, and the expression of incredulity that gradually dawned on Maan's face!

"What do you mean you won't take the right…?" asked Maan thunderously.

"You aren't very bright are you?" Another yess! Finally she got a chance to say that, thought Geet smugly.

"It means I will take the first left…" she continued, "...you see, I am the one driving, so I…" she paused for effect, "…get to decide" she ended with a triumphant grin.

Maan was left speechless. For once, Maan Singh Khurana actually had nothing to say!

Geet confidently took the left turn and then sped down the lane, chuckling to herself over cheap thrills!

Till she saw the dead end!

Dead end… What…? This can't be happening, thought Geet wildly as she braked, craning her neck to check for any possible exits, right or left.

Nope still dead end, she thought, pausing as she heard a muffled sound coming from beside her.

Geet slowly turned to look at Maan who was shaking with silent laughter and seethed inwardly, pouting adorably as she took in his expression!

"Well, well, well," drawled Maan, who was now hugely enjoying himself. "Very smart way to come to our next lesson, lesson number two… the reverse gear".

Geet cursed at her bad luck, oh how she hated having to accept that he had been 'right', pun totally not intended or appreciated!

"Start the car again… and press the clutch…and now, put it in the reverse gear… there… just below the fifth, clear?" Maan said mock-patiently, as if explaining to a five year old, thought Geet furiously.

With Maan's gaze on her, Geet fumbled and swore as the car stalled again. Hypocrite, right now Mr. Perfect is actually enjoying his 'precious' car stalling, Geet glared at him.

Maan smiled, slowly, and held her gaze, sliding his fingers over hers to cover her left hand with his. And then, surely, but firmly, shifted the gear to the reverse position.

"You had put it in the fourth gear… you need to push it harder… take it till the very edge, and then firmly press it down…no gently…. like this… try it again… yes, that's right… oh ya…like that…," Geet looked at him, suddenly suspicious "…keep doing it… hold it firmly, keep doing it…!" Maan ended a bit thickly.

What kind of a lesson was this? Geet's eyes widened as she saw something quite else flare in his quizzical eyes.

Hmmm! Payback time… for this little imp who was driving him over the edge… A God-forsaken place - tucked away in a desolate street with abandoned houses and overgrown ivy, - and his Maybach, which suddenly seemed to be full of promise and infinite new possibilities…oh yes!, Maan grinned to himself, licking his lips in satisfaction as he pressed the levers to make both the front seats recline! Maybe later, he could explore the back seat; he never had really got around to trying that new feature… but time enough for all that, and more…time enough…, as he pulled Geet inexorably towards himself and started…!

Geet sighed, not entirely because of resignation (!), gave in…

It was going to be a long night. A lesson in… oh, a very different kind of a lesson!

…and blushed.
