Chandra Nandini 49: Endurance contest
Folks,
The funny thing is that I quite enjoyed the segment where Chandragupta lugs Nandini up the hill to the temple at the top. It was downright hilarious, solely due to the exasperated running commentary he kept up, cursing Nandini intermittently for being too heavy. I laughed and laughed.😆
Then, in the temple, there was an extended snippet, where he applies sindoor to Nandini's maang, which really worked well. Both of them looked very handsome, and she seemed to be in a kind of mesmerised trance, eyes closed for the most part, and then looking into his as if she was hypnotised, while he was looking at her in a brooding, questioning way.
The rest was utter tripe, but some sort of chemistry seems to be brewing in this bit.
Sinned against: I am beginning, after two solid episodes of Nandini jaap, to look kindly on Helena all over again. She might be rash and stupid and lacking in subtlety in the fine art of managing the male of the species, but she is being very badly treated by her saas and her par-saas.
She, the eldest bahu, is being reduced to an unwanted piece of furniture, while the daughter of the vile Padmanand, who had single-handedly destroyed the whole Piplivan royal family, is lauded and feted and made much of by the whole jing bang lot from daadi to Chhaya, for NO earthly reason that anyone could think of. It is insane!😡
And pushed relentlessly into Chandra's vicinity. Daadi's crass stupidity in poking Nandini in the side just as Chandra was getting ready to pick her up, making her fall into the RK Films logo pose, bent backwards over his arm, was the absolute pits. It was the sort of thing one could expect from a village woman, not from a royal matron.
She was evenly matched with the loony Durdhara, who was at her absolute worst in this episode, especially in the part at the foot of the hill. Having to watch her and Mura and Daadi rejoicing in the success of their plan for nearly wrecking Chandra's back😡, just stopping short of exchanging high fives, was distinctly bad for the enamel of my teeth, which did not take kindly to the way in which I was gritting them!
