Forgot to add earlier, what I liked best is the detailed and engaging manner in which you described the battle positions and strategies on both sides. Special mention goes to the timing of the turning of tables, from both Ashok's and the opponent's side. The tension was illustrated to perfection.
And like several before me have said, everything was flashing in the mind's eye as the reading progressed. Specially at the plateau maneuvering junction, the throbbing, electrifying background music of "Ashoka Hai Ashoka" starts playing in the head. ๐Ÿ˜†

Babur u rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My favourite update till date. Full of WAR๐Ÿ˜Ž
Loved it seriously.
Bindusar has much better depth. I can guarantee that if Ssushim again puts forward the proposal to marry Ahankara in the show, Bindusar will go along with it.
And Khallatak and Sushim get trolled ๐Ÿ˜ˆ
I feel for Radhagupt for having to hide his laughter till Bindusar left the court.
Ashok...he has the common sense that he cannot do anything on his own. I felt really satisfied when he decided to focus on the current crisis rather than what he has left behind. I felt it was a battle won, in case of character formation.

Now coming to the WAR
The first decision of Ashok was absolutely correct. Archers are the force that can do the highest amount of damage. Similarly the enemy's archers are the biggest trouble. To win a battle during those days both sides would target the archers due to which they must be put at an altitude and guarded.
So Shunga has both Khurasani and Yunani battalions huh? No problem. As Maharana Pratap had rightly said and proved, its not the number its the tactic along with luck that wins a battle.
Then comes a brilliant tactic from the enemy clan. The case of Betrayal in Battle. A huge division from Ashok's sena withdraws leaving behind a vacuum and a huge chink for the enemy to exploit.
The soldiers of the enemy has a battalion dressed in huge armours carrying spikes. Ashok very well handles them. Taking lower ground instead of altitude he topples them by making the archers fire on their feet. Good but it was dangerous too. The enemy could have chosen to wipe out their whole range of archers by exploiting the altitude. Fortunately for Ashok, they were too confident. Idiots! Well in battle sense though I am glad they didn't.
And then comes Gregor Clegane!๐Ÿ˜†
Hehe! Your description reminded me of him.
Anyways the Thor(hammer๐Ÿ˜‰) + Gregor Clegane hybrid marches forth about to kill one of Ashok's generals.
Ashok does a brave but foolish action and gets clobbered.
Good. Hope he will learn a lesson.

I am disappointed that Radhagupt didn't learn of this but oh well, one cannot have everything.

Waiting for the next.

Thank you everyone for your kind reviews.

Vidhya: Almost everyone in the forum shares your sentiments. You are not the only one. The way Ashok is portrayed right now is ridiculous. Even if I let the ridiculous way the Magadh Sena was wiped out pass and Bindusar's weak portrayal it just doesn't make sense. He should be surrounded by Chanakya's loyalists guiding him to defeat Keechak. But alas. We get the cat and mouse parody.

Shailusri: Thank you for your kind words. Glad you enjoyed the battle. Hope my story inspires you to write some of your own.

Krystal: Thank you for reading. Glad you enjoyed it. I spent the better part of my teenage life studying military history so it helped somewhat. ๐Ÿ˜†

Hope I can keep up the quality of the chapters and give you all an enjoyable read.

Niki: First off. When will you update your story? ๐Ÿ˜†

Thank you so much for your flattering review. I am glad you enjoyed it so much.

The Selecucid aka Yunani Infantry are very dangerous. Just look up Macedonian Phalanx and you will know how dangerous they actually are. Taking them head on is suicide. Even archers firing from above don't work on them. Their only weakness is from the sides. Which as you saw was protected by the Khurasani cavalry.

Their lower body is lightly armored. So I had to come up with this personal tactic for Ashok. Hope it wasn't unrealistic. ๐Ÿ˜†

And I based Andromechus of Ajax from Illiyad. So yeah I pulled the fabled Indian CV tactic of copy paste. ๐Ÿ˜›

Once again thank you all for reading this story. Your reviews are very helpful. I will try to post the next update by tomorrow. If not it will be up by Wednesday IA.

Stay awesome till then. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Actually Babur, I was gonna type, "You a student of Miitary History, by any chance?" ๐Ÿ˜›
I'm afraid my personal knowledge of Military history is confined to a couple of books read in the fifth semester in college. ๐Ÿ˜† You read Jeremy Black?

Thank you for the quick update!

Love it!! Interesting turn of events and superb description of tactics and the combat.๐Ÿ‘ The Bindu-Ahankara scene was good, I wish they had shown such scene๐Ÿ˜† Rakshas-helena makes a kickass pair. I also like RG-Bindu-Khallu sabha scenes...we haven't had a proper sabha scene since AC's exit.

The Ashok in your story is so realistic and plausible, I absolutely love reading and picturing him.

I hope your next update is sooner as you have left us all hanging ๐Ÿ˜† In the meanwhile, I'm making my guesses. I'm excited to see what happens next.

Thanks for reading Ramsha. How I wish Bindusar was portrayed in a more sensible manner. The way his character has regressed is simply infuriating. Sameer Sir should simply deck the moron that wrote his character sketch.

Rakshas and Helena are awesome. But sadly they are regressing in the show as well. Thank you nepotism.

Will try my best to update tomorrow. IA.

Not in the traditional sense. I never studied it in a formal institution. Internet has been a blessing from God. It allows me to pursue my passion for free.๐Ÿ˜†

And I have not read the book yet. It is on my reading list. Currently I am finishing Suleiman the Magnificent by Harold Lamb.

Thank you for reading madam. Glad you enjoyed it. You aptly summed up the Helena and Rakshas duo. Beauty and the Beast. ๐Ÿ˜†

Yeah my life revolves around warfare and politics.๐Ÿฅฑ

Will update soon. Stay tuned.๐Ÿ˜Š

You pursued your passion with a lot of tenacity. Admirable. ๐Ÿ‘
By the way, could you please edit the term 'sugar daddy' out of your post? I'm afraid it's a rather mature term to be used for a nubile 13 year old.

Sorry got carried away. I just cannot understand why such an actress was chosen to play a key role in a story that is filled with top class talent who have to sacrifice their screen time for her.

Yeah thank you. Although it was quite easy(when I found the time to study). My early years of interest towards history itself helped. And of course war based games made it an entertaining journey.
