Lata Mangeshkar is indeed talented. She came up the hard way and she knew very well how to wield her power and hold her own in dirty politics. Look at the number of people she picked fights with. Shankar- Jaikishan, O.P Nayyar,Mohammed Rafi etc. Lata is an anomaly. None of the singers who came after her could stand up to the music directors or producers and dictate their own terms. Look at the way music companies like T-series keep their stable of tame singers who dare not even argue about their proper remuneration or royalty. It's quite another thing that the singer Yesudas who criticized Lata for still singing in films while her voice had deteriorated was actively singing when he was in his seventies.

Deedar de was a power packed fast paced song compared to Jaanleva. Sunidhi pulled it off marvellously.

It is her major hit after Mast Mahaul song from Fiza and songs of Mast.

Sunidhi also pulls off those Hinglish songs like Move on Move on song from TWMR, very well.

Kavita is trained in classical tradition so she often sounds soft. Sunidhi can pull off aggressive, unhinged style songs better. She can sound ruthless warrior type if she wants and shun any softness. A quality very few singers (especially female ones) have.

Didn't Dhoom machale come before Deedar de, there was Saaki Saaki also, Chameli songs,I remember Aisa Jadoo dala re being a rage too. Saaki Saaki was Vishal-Shekhar's first major hit. But yes Deedar de is a high tempo song campared to jaanleva and is a more westernised song. A lot of Sunidhi songs sound good only with her. Can't imagine another singer in these songs.

Oh yes. I remember now Dus released in 2005 and Dhoom in 2004, right?

Her songs suit only her, no one can pull them off the way she does. Sunidhi, was also called favorite singer by Lata. I wonder if she was genuine or just chose Sunidhi over Shreya because Shreya sounds closer to young Lata.

(Her fans gonna get irked again)

I remember Asha Bhosle mentioned it once that even when Sunidhi was a kid Lata had told her that she will go far because she could already modulate her voice.Lata has always been very fond of her, Alka, Sonu and Udit for some reason. She likes Shreya too. Although the comparison may have pissed her off a little.

Of course she will sound suitable for that character of a mother of a grown up man.

Lata would have been more suitable for songs in films like Baghban also for Hema Malini. Rather than Preity for VZ.

That was a reply to Mishh who wrote that Lata should have quit post 80s when she sang in gems like Luka Chuppi.

Lata's playback voice for Sridevi, Madhuri is iconic. It's a perfect match. It looked like these actresses were actually singing the iconic songs on screen. Especially Didi Tera Devar Deewana and Mere Haathon Mein No No Chooriyan Hain, it looks like Madhuri and Sridevi were actually singing while dancing to these iconic songs. Apart from these two actresses, I agree Lata's voice didn't suit any other actress in 90s and 00s.
