Desiking: Lol it does not matter even if you do dislike me or find me a hater. I don't hate her, I just find her thoroughly mediocre & her constant whining about India, is horribly annoying. Such famous people will say & do anything for fame & since she's made her livelihood in the U.S., she is bound to sing its praises. Who knows how that money or fame is procured so I am much happier being middle-class. Ciao.

She can't act either way and no one cares in India. Rise of the Planet of Apes was so cringe every time she came on screen. Wonder why HW ever bothered. She's over there too btw apart from graphic sex scenes she gets to do esp for some movies.

^She's still getting work which is about as much as can be expected for an average brown actress.

Parminder Nagra was a very good actress and the leading star of Bend it like Beckham but all she got was a TV show and then pretty much disappeared while the supporting actor Kiera Knightly became a huge star. Archie Panjabi also can't move up much more from TV shows. The same is true of Priyanka and once the initial fame rush is over, it gets harder and harder.

Tabloid fame is also not the same thing as real stardom. The Kardashians have made huge money out of it but it still doesn't come with respect unless your end goal is only fame.

One of the reasons I was really rooting for her. I thought she had potential to break the barrier. Especially getting into a commercial venture like Planet of the Apes. But after initial momentum, she completely sputtered.

Mindy Kaling has come somewhat close in breaking the barriers. She has a cult following and now a role in two major motion pictures. Of which Ocean's 8 was commercially viable and is likely to become a trilogy. But of course, she's not as big as Blanchett or Bullock. I am really hoping that Marven Cinematic Universes Ms. Marvel can change the fate of brown actresses.

Love her! ❤️ I'll never forget the amount of craze SM generated when it first released and how everyone would fawn over Freida's beauty. I never met a single guy in the west who didn't think she was stunning. She made her dreams materialize into reality no matter how untalented or supposedly "ugly" looking people (mostly in India) think she is, I'm so happy for her<3

Never thought she was ugly, I think she was gorgeous when she was younger and still is

I'm really happy Mindy is going places especially because she doesn't have the traditional hot looks. Actually that shows that whoever really makes it happens organically. Stars can't really be created by PR machines or handpicking hotties or anything like that.

Mindy is helped hugely by the fact that she's a very good writer and was able to create her own roles - first with the small appearances on The Office and then her own Mindy Project. Aziz Ansari also had to do the same with Master of None. Kumail Nanjiani also did with The Big Sick.

When there's a career lull, they can write something for themselves because readymade roles are so limited in number.

well NYC is amazing...i don't blame her..

also Bollywood does churn out one crap after another and when one average movie is made, people act like its a masterpiece .. also don't blame her for not wanting to work in Bollywood, it does look like a toxic industry...

Someone in PC thread ,I had posted, reacted that it wasn't BW related. This thread reminded me of that reaction.

Nobody cares for her in Bollywood nor Hollywood. She was rejected by Bollywood.. with her looks/talent, she would probably get supporting roles of sister & all in Hindi TV serials.. 😆
