Those who have watched have said it's a different movie with no dance songs or jokes or kisses etc and full of good performances esp Varun. This guy has surprised many with his subtle performance in October. Varun shines.

October showed huge growth on its second Saturday and it was probably its best day for the film since release comparatively. It looked a 6 crore nett weekend but the film is comfortably going higher than that and it could even reach double figures in week two. The growth on Saturday is around 85% which is very good and although overall numbers are on the lower side it is sustaining well enough to continuing running for a couple of weeks more.

The collections of October till date are as follows..

Week One - 27,75,00,000 apprx

Friday - 1,35,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 2,50,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 31,60,00,000 apprx

Finally watched October. It's been a massively busy time this past week - had to invigilate a test, extra tutoring, graduation and a relative's bridal shower - but it happened Friday night.
⭐️Spoilers ahead, I can't help myself. 😆😳⭐️

I think the greatest thing about October is that it makes you feel a part of the film. Which is why I'd call it an experience. It's like you're also in the hospital observing Dan looking lovingly at Shiuli. And that was so powerful. I can't even explain.

I loved all the performances.
Varun - truly outdid yourself. I think I always knew he was capable of moving me this way but I'm so glad this material came to him and then came to me. ❤️
Banita - what power her eyes have. A really good debut. It's not easy doing the scenes post accident and while some others say it's hard to gauge whether she is good or bad, I'd say she definitely deserves another film based on this performance.
Geetanjali - a gem. I could feel her pain, her frustration, her fight... it was beautiful. Even her realization that while Dan was a comfort to her, this was holding him back from progressing in life. This happens to a lot of people when someone close to them becomes terminally ill or handicapped so I'm sure many resonated with these feelings.

I haven't lost someone in this way before so while I couldn't relate to the situation, I did feel every heartbreaking beautiful human emotion. I appreciate deeply how it was conveyed by the actors and that is credited to Shoojit and Juhi. They kept everything real. I mean, beside maybe, the shot of Shiuli smelling the flowers in the beginning and the long shots of the landscape and the end driving away scene (which reminded you it's a film), nothing could really fall under the cinematic category and I feel that's hard to do. Everything felt raw/natural (not in an unprofessional way) from the actual accident scene to the emotions shown.

And I also appreciate the different reactions of people and I understand them. I mean, okay, my first reaction to that negative uncle was: tu bahar mil mujhe kutte! But everyone reacts differently to situations and sometimes you wonder whether to be realistic or to keep hoping for the best. Even the friends who had chosen to move on - can we blame them? We lose people, sometimes close to us, on a regular basis but that's the circle of life so to what degree should we let it affect us? I think it's a personal question or takeaway for everyone.

Who else felt the wind knocked out of them first, when Shiuli sits on that ledge and fall and the screen is black for like 1 second... and then when Dan goes to the house and people are crying, showing Shiuli had passed on? It was unexpected. But that's also life. It's like the story was an excerpt of someone's life and the narrative was behaving like life.

I can't even explain how invested I was at the Dan-Shiuli connect and just them looking at each other and him waving his finger left to right, making her respond to his name, fixing his picture on her bed... my heart was smashed to pieces when she died. I felt like someone had been ripped out of my life. I think, because it's a Bollywood film, you kinda hope that she gets better and she becomes the girl she was before but that doesn't happen in real life - no one recovers fully from falls like that, there is no magic.

The October theme... F*L, just take my heart and go. Cannot explain what those notes did to me. Powerful stuff.

It was quite brave of Varun to undertake this character especially since Dan is not a very likable guy. I know a guy like this - always in a bad mood, constantly causing chaos and running away from the scene like they didn't just start it, feeling like they've been handed a shitty life but not doing anything to improve it. But why I say it's brave is because most of his other characters have been etched in a way to be always likable, to be the face and personality the audience cheers for. There's none of that here.

I think my review is getting too long 😆 So let me wrap up. I really enjoyed the film. I thought, yes, in the narrative there was lots of breathing space but it was intentional - you were supposed to reflect yourself on what happened in the film or possibly a personal experience. The performances were natural and wonderful. I do think that this is film is best viewed alone because of all the introspection it may provoke which is why I believe I made a good decision to watch it with my dad instead of a group of friends. If I was with a group of friends, I may have got a bit restless. I don't know what the outcome of the BO may be - I'm hoping it escapes the flop tag but this is definitely a movie to be proud of. Well done Varun. 👍🏼❤️

Guys lets a take a min to congratulate Chevi for her graduation. I was looking forward to her review for a long time. And waited for her to see it.
👏👏👏

It's triple celebration as a Varun fan. It's his B-day tomorrow and also October has dodged flop verdict too😳
