This is a cool promotional strategy! I love it! I live in the US and I am still uncomfortable talking about it at work for example. When I have cramps I still don't say I have cramps :-/ I really want to though but I am not sure how it will be taken!! I have had situations where I had to go through a lot of discomfort because I was too ashamed to talk about it! So, even as a progressive working city woman it is helping me!

If you don't like it, that's cool too.

now society will decide what should we be ashamed / hide about and what not . i dont see problim in hiding pad as long as you have pad to wear during period but this is problem to people like twinkle . but this story is abt being ashamed of pad or no money to buy pad 😕 movie will flop 🤢

Just like the HW elites who will be all #metoo until one of their own is involved, Roman Polanski or Woody Allen,,then they will defend them come hell or high water. And people will cheer their latest twitter challenges and fiery inspirational speeches conveniently ignoring their actions which are completely opposite.

While I do support this campaign, for I think it will help young boys and girls to openly talk about the topic of periods, I don't disagree with you either.
Hollywood and Bollywood are the top players in the game of hypocrisy. They advocate things, screech in rallies, make films on social justice but expect the industry to be kept out when it comes to applying these things in reality. Never forget the way everyone lined up at Salman's residence right after the conviction.
For exactly reasons like this, I feel they shouldn't be talking about social issues because there is nothing but hypocrisy involved. However I still do support this campaign.

Akki & Tina are creating awareness among people by asking celebs to pose with Pads!
Society should change and allow us to open and take about menustruation and hygiene!

I don't think we should expect actors to go out of their comfort zone and become real world activists. If they want to, that's great but if they just simply want to raise awareness though their work and then do nothing about it in reality that's ok too. I don't think an actor or a movie's job is to make real changes...their job is to challenge people's thinking. Once people start to change the way they think, real change on the ground will happen over time. If people don't change their thinking, nothing will change.

I am ok if Akki does not give two hoots about it after the movie releases...I don't even expect him to...he can do what he does best...act in movies...Sonam on the other hand is a bit more activist type...she may continue to do other things...but I don't expect her to go on the ground in the villages and make changes! That's not her job!

Exactly !

I dont see the point of challenging & displaying pads by random celebs ..had they want change in society they should talk abt how some girls are treated during menstruation and should be stopped. that would be more impact on society and brings change rather than displaying pads ! A flop strategy/promotional tactics IMO..

Exactly . I see no point of clicking a picture with pad , it's same selfie with lipstick -_-
I like your suggestion better !

Why should anybody talk about.menstruation , defecation, urination. Aren't these things natural ?? People survived , practised hygiene before all this madness and show off in the name of awareness started and they will continue to do so.
Clicking selfies , talking abiut menstruation isn't done at all.places. We did have awareness programmes at schools where both girls ans boys were made to sit in assembly hall and sanitary napkin manufacturers came and conducted a lot of group discussions, and stuff like that. After interactive session they sent away boys and distributed pads among girls.
It's obvious that they wouldn't give off free samples to boys because they don't use them ..

Unlike twinkle akshay's stupid challenge i.like what manushi did. Shouting on footpaths , creating awareness among public in the real sense. And distributing pads on roads. Twinkle is anyway famous for.plagiarizing ideas so she could have jus done what manushi did.

Lmao. People like OP are the actual reason why Padman challenges should be done very single day. Y'all getting your panties in a twist because of an unused pad? Do better. The day when shopkeepers stop handing you pads in black polythenes or paper is the day I'll know some kinda change has happened in small towns. The stigma is even worse in villages. Its so moronic and unfortunate that people who am assuming are literate and privileged enough to have internet access are stating how openly talking about pads is making them 'uncomfortable'. Menstruation is a biological process and pads are a way to combat that. If one can openly talk other bodily ailments and ways to combat it,why not periods. Celebrities in India have a lot of influence, good or bad. These people talking about it helps lil girls to not feel ashamed and to normalise it for lil boys as well. Its a good thing. Anyone feeling 'uncomfortable' with it is the main reason it's being done. You are part of the problem.

Also what kinda comparison is the Padman challenge with underwear challenge. Educate yourself.
