You know how some storytelling goes like ..

"Ok.. so this was happening in Kunthala.. Meanwhile in Maahishmathi,, this was happening!"

they can't keep saying that in movie, so I guess they went with what had more impact first and then showed what was less or comparatively less important.. The night sequence was a lil weird but then that's when Pindari fight start too.. so they just wanted it to flow together in the same scene..

Well.. Kattappa was alone pa when he heard it - which means there are times when they are apart.. maybe Amarendra had gone somewhere..
