or Arjun Kapoor, acting was not his first choice. The 30-year-old started off as an assistant director for Kal Ho Na Ho (2003) and Salaam-e-Ishq (2007). However, it was actor Salman Khan who advised Arjun to try acting.
Although Arjun Kapoor is not the only actor to be launched by Khan, the Ishaqzaade star, who calls himself "an accidental actor", insists that there's no competition between him and other actors mentored by Khan.
"It's not about where you start from. It's about what you do from where you start. The idea for me has always been to sustain myself in the profession," he says.
"I am an actor today, only because of him (Salman Khan) - he deserves 100%credit. But there's no sense of competition because it's not logical. You have to create your own equity, which comes with time, when you have done good films. No one will say I'm a bad actor because someone else is doing better, or vice versa. They will judge me on my work, so there can't be any competition," he adds.
Arjun, who will soon be seen in a film alongside actor Kareena Kapoor, also does not agree that he can be comfortable in the industry. "We have had enough examples in the industry where actors have fizzled out after a brilliant career of four or five years. I am in no position to say that I am comfortable with my career and I am better than this actor or that actor," he says.
