Shahid Kapoor opens up that he was a bit apprehensive before recommending Kareena Kapoor Khan...

Shahid Kapoor, who enjoyed his highest opening ever with Shaandaar, is garnering mixed reviews for the film. After Shaandaar with Alia Bhatt, the actor will be seen in Udta Punjab which has his ex-flame Kareena Kapoor Khan and his current co-star Alia Bhatt along with Punjabi actor Diljit Dosanjh. While quizzed about this unlikely cast by an entertainment portal, Shahid admitted that it was he who suggested Kareena's name to the makers of Udta Punjab.

Well, don't get surprised by this revelation yet, as the Shaandaar actor spilled more beans. He revealed, "the role that Kareena plays, I felt it was perfect for her. In fact, I was a little scared of referring Kareena as I did not know how it would be perceived." It is rather heartening that Shahid let the bygones remain bygones and suggested former girlfriend Kareena's name for the film.

He further said, "lot of people were not ready to take up a film like this. It needs lot of confidence as an actor and as a star. As a star you do things that are surprising for people to watch you and you don't know how they will react and as an actor all the roles are very challenging. Maybe I have just learnt to take risks and am known to be a little more fearless. I think all of us are actors and have our reservations and we need to think hard before doing a film."

He added that he also convinced Alia to do a role in the film. Udta Punjab, which will release next year, deals with the problem of drug abuse among the youngsters in the affluent North Indian states of the country.
