Obviously it was OTT, unrealistic, and at times unintentionally funny but aren't all masala films post 2010 like that?

It wasn't as bad as its made out, I've seen far, far worse. Maybe it was because I had zero expectations and watched it out of bordem.

@outsider one: Salman wasn't playing himself, he was playing a character. You need to distinguish between reel and real life.

Not just masala movies but all movies barring documentaries and some biographies are fake . It's fiction or make believe and So I go with the expectation that literally anything can happen onscreen 😆 😆

As for what I thought of jai ho . It was alright . I'd watch it again but I doubt it would make me do good deeds as the film intended 😆 😆

Not really. 😆 Some masala movies are actually liked by a variety of people. Singham and Dabang 1 for example are liked by all kinds of people, masala lovers as well as those who generally avoid masala movies.

Yup he does. Can you imagine an army tanker in a middle of some random dust ridden street...😆

Now I know why you were able to tolerate this movie. The one who can tolerate RGV ki Aag must have a great tolerance threshold...😆

yes while these movies are liked by the masses, including myself, they nevertheless still are OTT, very unrealistic, outrageous and at times unintentionally funny. I don't know about you but Ajay's 'aley re aley' dialogue was unintentionally funny. I found it rather bizzare.

I did not like either Singham or Dabang. Not my thing. But those are two masala movies post 2010 that come to mind that are universally liked, i.e by masala lovers and non-lovers. Ergo, my point was, some masala movies like Jai Ho are dissed universally for a reason because clearly the genre itself isn't in the wrong, it's the film, in this case, Jai Ho.

I think jai ho is varied there are some who like it alot nt just you lensa/khubsoorat, there were some others too..i know someone liked it because Salman stayed in character and didnt go OTT or do comedy bt remained serious where he was too..te main issue most had was the supporting cast, the low production values, music wasnt entertaining..etc..
These are the major compliants and yes mixing a msg with too much violence, and dishum dshum and movie gave outdated vibes..

I was scratching my head watching the film because it made me so confused about what the hell was going on. There were so many characters, nothing was making sense, and everything was half baked. Till I made it to the second half, I just started looking for unintentional comic relief and analyzing peoples makeup and dressing.
