Exclusive: Guneet Monga shares her Cannes Diary

Like every year, even this year the Cannes International Film Festival started with a bang. Film producer Guneet Monga shares with Pinkvilla her insight on the first day of the 67th Festival de Cannes.
Monga is the co-founder of film production company Sikhya Entertainment and also CEO of Anurag Kashyap Films Pvt. Ltd. (AKFPL). She is attending the international as a member of Titli', which will be premiered in the Un Certain Regard' category.

Cannes during the film festival can be quite daunting. It's the epitome of glitz, glamour, all things film and more so, shapes the global cinema consumption trend.
Imagine a place with scores of thousands of people only talking and breathing cinema. Each table buzzing with gossip of who's buying what, who's going bust and who made another million. It's a place where the cinematic have's rub shoulder with the have not's. Each one with their own to do lists during these ten days.
Day 1 of Cannes was buzzing with excitement, of what's to come. With Grace of Monaco' opening the festival, Nicole Kidman wowed everyone. While the film opened to mixed reviews, what was exciting and great was to see Uday Chopra up there making India proud.
On the other side, the business of films took an exciting start. The market was buzzing with talk of the biggest film deal being struck ever. "Story of your life" which is being touted as the next massive film was sold to Paramount for a record 20 million odd dollars by FilmNation. Wow! It's being said to be the best sci-fi film since Spielberg's "Close Encounters".
Team Titli' too was in full form, walking the red carpet of GOM. Followed by the swish after party on the Croisette. With Kanu, Shashank, Avtar from YRF and Myself in attendance, we danced away through the night, celebrating not just GOM but also the fact that a few days from now, Titli' will be showcased to the world.
It's said that the team of a major Hollywood film on Sunday will sashay down the Croisette with their entire cast atop a truck!!
Of friends, family and inspirational people, Day 1 has created a huge expectation of what to expect the coming days.
