After or before watching a movie i always come in here to check the reviews...but mostly after cz the responses here are almost always negative 😆
aaanyways, shocked to see just 13 pages out here and almost nobody who has actually watched it themselves... saw some negative reviews and a LOT of positives...many wrong assumptions and biased praises 😆

I watched the movie today - after a very long wait...and i loved it!!

Before i tell you all about it, let me warn you about probable tiny spoilers and clarify that i had read the book before watching the movie.

For those who have read the book and love bollywood, they would be overjoyed watching this cz the casting, cinematography, locations, costume is spot on!

Aalia has done an amazing job in the movie! she is so natural, minimal make up...and omg her clothes! not only are they beautiful but she makes it look better! Her small cute expressions, the way she cried...it was all Ananya all through.. (Seeing all this i felt like cursing the SOTY makers for making her look like a plastic model when she can look so beautiful without it!)

Arjun was perfect for the role... and you can see that in some scenes he plays himself! I dont know why some reviews have said that theres been a miscast, i thought he was rather good! :D

The parents!! Godd they are ditto how i imagined them while reading the book...ananya's tamilian parents...revathy was superb and her father perfect! 👏 The punjabi mother was SO real and ronit roy the BEST! I dint know he could act so well!! :o

Ohh btww that mickey mouse underwear scene which was released online was not there in the movie...but just the marriage scene was shot beautifully...with voiceover and bg music.. The Punjabi madness before the wedding and breakfast confusions were also cut out...so were the krishh's hostel in chennai scene and scenes with his boss..

But all this you will not realise during the movie...cz its got a good flow and what there has been wonderfully done!

I would happily give it 4.5 stars :D

BO update: '2 States' storms the country!

Whenever a film features actor/s who recently achieved success with his/her previous release, the audience anticipation for their immediate film is immense. In the case of 2 STATES, the film features two of the most-talked-about stars, Arjun Kapoor [post the success of GUNDAY] and Alia Bhatt [after winning accolades for her performance in HIGHWAY]. Now add the brand Chetan Bhagat [the film is based on the well-received novel by the same name] -- also credible names such as Karan Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala and UTV -- and you are assured of a terrific start at the ticket window.

As expected, 2 STATES embarked on a superb note across multiplexes, while the start at several good properties in the mass belt was super-strong too. The Good Friday holiday has helped the film open to packed houses, with the youth thronging the cineplexes across the nation. The film is expected to have a strong Day 1, courtesy the above-mentioned factors. Also, since the reports are extremely positive and so are its reviews, a big, fat weekend total is on the cards.

While 2 STATES was off to a fantastic start, DEKH TAMASHA DEKH was ignored by the moviegoers, with the occupancy being very low.

2 States First Day (Friday) Collection Early Trends. Huge in Multiplexes.

2 States has taken a outstanding start in all India Multiplexes on 1st Day (Friday) at box office. Film started with 60-70% occupancy in plexes specially in metros in Morning shows. After that film has sustained well and now registering 80% occupancy which is excellent. Film has started decently in single screens from whatever reports are received. Occupancy in single screens right now is around 40-50%+ from few samples received. Major report is awaited from there. Still occupancy is good considering multiplexes will take care of majority of business.

Film is set to big start at box office as buzz of the film is good and is releasing on Good Friday Holiday. But film has outdone all expectation and box office opening can be touted as bumper considering film face value.

Occupancy Report for First Day in Selected Multiplexes:

Delhi: 70% (Morning), 80-85% (Evening).

Gurgaon: 70% (Morning), 90% (Evening).

Mumbai: 70% (Morning), 75% (Evening).
