Jokes apart, like some others in here said...luck can only get you so far...ultimately talent speaks for itself...Sushant has the best lineup of movies coming up among any of his contemporaries and then some...Dibaker Banerjee, Rajkumar Hirani, Maneesh Sharma, Abhishek Kapoor again...and YRF producing two big movies on him and not some low-budget sidey ones...this is a big thing.

If you've watched SDR, I think you'll understand me when I say this...this guy is coming into his own as an actor...with each project he's chosen or the ones he's being cast for...he isn't playing the same typical role in every movie...Ishaan was different from Raghu...and going by the synopsis his upcoming roles look different from each other too...he isn't just playing by a simple formula...I think that's interesting...and maybe that is what these directors are seeing in him and wanting to extract different shades from him.

But yes, a movie with Shekhar Kapur...regardless of the ultimate box office outcome...this is HUGE...and I think ultimately maybe for the best...some roles require ACTORS more than STARS.

For example, I feel it was GOOD for SDR that Shahid wasn't cast in that role...he would have hammed it like hell...Sushant was a natural as Raghu.

Haha touche Anu. 😆

No see I was surprised because I thought this was a film for Indian audiences only with a super huge budget. That's why I didn't understand why anyone would put 200-300 cr on a newcomer. It's just highly unlikely it would recover costs, whether they suit the role or not.. At least HR was a bigger star than Sushant. But after reading posts here and specifically that Shekhar Kapur interview on why he's not doing this with Hrithik, I understand why Sushant was picked. They'll release it internationally and it'll be like Life Of Pi which doesn't need established stars in it. Shekar Kapur wanted a newcomer, one who doesn't come with any baggage attached to him of being larger than life...one who would be convincing as this super thin, common man struggling to find water. Ranbir also has an image now and I doubt Adi would want to put up with his conditions. Between Ranveer and Sushant, Sushant is definitely the better choice for this role.

Of course this is a huge deal! That's another reason I was slightly surprised. 😆 I have never seen YRF give any newcomer such prestigious and big projects in their 3 film deals. They mostly get low-to-medium budgeted rom-coms, while the "bigger" films go to the stars. After those 3 film deals, they get the bigger offers...like Anushka got JTHJ after her 3-film deal was over...and Katrina did all the small rom coms with folks like Imran and Ali before she got films with 3 Khans... but yes, ultimately talent does speak for itself and Adi must see tremendous talent in Sushant to give him such offers!

Sushant's lineup is truly amazing, wtih such reputed directors and good roles! Man, he's really come a long way...I never would have thought honestly... 😆 I haven't seen SDR yet. Mera plan hi nahin banta theek se. I've been wanting to watch ...I wanna know why such mixed reactions (though I have a hunch) ..😆

Shekhar Kapur, Raju hirani, Abhishek Kapoor, Dibaker Banerjee. Enviable! All the other young guys better watch out and not underestimate him. 😆

Sushant is working with YRF , abhishek, Deebakar, Raju Hirani and now Shekhar Kapur because he has got the talent and they all see it. He's auditioned for all his parts. Its not because of luck. He can really act. I am thrilled he's getting these great opportunities. He's hard working, down to earth and is in it for the right reasons. He doesn't seem interested in fame and money. He wants to make a mark as an actor instead of becoming a star. So more power to him. 👏

+100000 this post right here

the guy has made it here purely on his talent and THAT is what makes me proud of him...he doesnt give a shit about money or fame, he's in it for the art of filmmaking...this guy is here to stay, its better if his haters accept that because he's going to get projects because he has the talent to back it up...seriously SO proud of him 😳

LOL so basically Sushant's lack of global star power is his advantage right now😆...and I love that...we anyways have too many stars and baggage to deal with in this industry...I for one would love it if atleast ONE actor could remain about ACTING more than typical star power...so far Sushant has displayed that.

Re: SDR and mixed reviews...lol yes your hunch is right😉...I saw many Sushant fans hating the movie too😆...but I liked it...and frankly it SOLIDIFIED Sushant's acting chops in my eyes...although KPC is a better movie overall...but what SDR has to say, what Sushant did in his role...he impressed me and proved he isn't a fluke with KPC. What's interesting to me is that Sushant has SCREEN PRESENCE...but it never overwhelms the ROLE he's doing...I think Raghu was great example of this...cuz the character is anything but a hero...Ishaan had more hero-like characteristics so was easier to root for...but Raghu is this confused goofball but not in a typical way...the fact that Sushant made him likeable in all his confusions is big props in my opinion.

Now some people may not like this opinion but I think Sushant is a better actor than Ranveer...so I don't even think Ranveer could be in the running for this role...the thing about Sushant that all these big directors seem to have recognized is that there is a surprising amount of intelligent DEPTH beneath the surface of his boy next door charm...and that is what they are all tapping in various ways/amounts.

Ranveer had the chance to show variety in Lootera...but I found him quite underwhelming...and the trailer of Ramleela is all abs/guns/love scenes🥱

Sushant has surprised me by doing movies with SUBSTANCE so far...and the lineup continues to look like that...YRF has indeed done something a bit unprecedented with him and there has to be a reason they have so much faith in him...let's hope it's all realized and this guy achieves greater and greater heights :-)

Until a few years back SSR was playing a side role in one of the TV shows. The lead actor had a LOT of fans. But it is interesting to see how the tables have now turned in a couple of years. Sushant looks like he is going places! (if he keeps up with this) Meanwhile the lead guy from that show probably just doing another show or looking for one.

Yeah it would be great if one person can remain untouched by the trappings of stardom but I think it's a little early to give Sushant that credit. Shuru mein, it's easier to pick the diverse roles...not get taken in because they're simply not stars then. It's hardest when you have a brush of it..maybe I'm being negative but there's lots of stars who started out being different and then got trapped by stardom when they tasted it..even Ranbir seems to be heading down that path now. 😕 But still, I hope Sushant won't fall in that well. It might be easier for him since ..well the star system itself might not be as prominent...who knows. 😆

Re: SDR ..yep I'm super curious to see it for this reason. I wanna see how Sushant did especially because Raghu doesn't seem like this likable guy. And I toh anyways quite like Parineeti, so win win. 😆

I thought someone had said they were considering both Sushant and Ranveer. Sushant is definitely the better pick for this type of role. I don't think Ranveer would work...he is...too...over the top for lack of a better word..like..too much...Obviously, directors have seen something in Sushant..Shekhar Kapur, Dibakar, Abhishek aren't are gera directors...and anyways a director's job is to imagine an actor in a completely different setting and have the faith that they can do it..

oh that reminds me I have to show you this...Dibakar was fawning over Sonam in this interview where he mentioned all sorts of really crazy ideas about things he would want to make with her...I was toh just amazed that someone can think of her in THESE types of roles! I dunno if anything will ever work out but I really appreciate Dibakar's creativity...if his films weren't enough to convince his interviews sure do the needful. 😆 He also pointed out an interesting thing...if you're going to do the same thing with an actor then you have to compete with it inch by inch...essentially go into another person's world and do things from there in a way..best is to just do something completely different ..I liked that..😆

Haha, you didn't like RL trailer much I presume. 😆 It looks SLB's version of Ishaqzaade to me..except these two don't hate each other at first..really unpopular opinion on the forum, but I found Deepika...underwhelming in the trailer...especially the first scene. She looks great and sensual, but that ...extra something is missing. Ranveer ...I finally noticed that he mumbles his dialogues. I couldn't make out what he was saying in some parts..rest there wasn't much to judge...the scene where he was yelling at DP was nice...I guess SLB just wanted to show passionate chemistry. 😆
