MDK & Cocktail similarity?

I dont know why I suddenly saw the similarities between Mujhse Dosti Karogi and Cocktail.
The basic plotline of both films followed the same idea.

The carefree male lead - Hrithik & Saif
One spoilt bigree hui rebellious girl - Kareena & Deepika
The goody two shoes mahaan girl - Rani & Diana

Spoit party gal is best friends with seedhi saadhi bholi bhaali more traditional ladki.

Carefree male lead first falls for the rebellious girl for the "wrong" reasons.
Saif gets into a relationship with Deepika just for the physical aspect.
Hrithik pursues Kareena coz he thinks she wrote him the letters and coz she's "prettier/hotter" etc etc. Basically phyisically more attractive, at least in the storyline

Halfway into the film, confused hero realizes he actually loves the seedhi saadhi bholi bhaali kudi, not the rebellious bigree hui party girl.
But by that time, the party girls have fallen in LURVVEE with the "golden hearted" hero...who basically becomes an ass who really doesnt give a damn about her at this point and is ready to jump ship without any care or regard for her feelings.

Both Hrithik and Saif selfishly proclaim their feelings to seedhi saadhi rani and Diana, and threaten to break the hearts of the evil Kareena & Deepika.
But the seedhi saadhi larkiyaan give the ultimate dosti ki kurbaani and give their kasams to the men to sacrifice their love to make their best friend happy.

In the end, the spoilt women prove that they are not so spoilt after all, and become the bigger gals by realizing that their true love loves someone else. And alas, sacrifice their own love for their friends' happiness.

Oh, and both films had the consolation prize angle. The pity guy to pair up with the seedhi saadhi girls in the middle of the film.
While poor Rani had to make do with Uday Chopra, Diana had a better deal with Randeep Hooda.😉

Seriously, no one else spot the similarites?

The ONLY difference I see is that in MDK, there was an extra love angle with gobi ke parathe.
That's about it.

another similarity in both movies is that the characters in both films were annoying.. except maybe Rani and Uday.

Only Rani and Diana's characters shared some sort of similarities . Both sacrificed love for BFF's sake !

Hrithik was not as care free as Saif. He actually believed in love and marriage. He was serious about the girl he loved from childhood. But he just could not recognize his own girl ( which I found really silly) .

Even Kareena was not a wild party girl with no sense of morality, but a fun loving bubbly girl !

well considering there r only 5 romance forumulas since movie industry started in India, why stop at MDK and cocktail only? go a bit back and bring roti kapda makan and all triangle storylines.

Most love stories boil down to the same story 😆 Treatment makes them different.

The reason I realized this is that a bunch of my brown friends who werent into Indian movies before have suddenly caught the bug after a wedding.
So I've caught them up on the following:

JWM
3 Idiots
Lagaan
K3G
Kal Ho Na Ho
Dil Chahta Hai
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara
Ek Main Aurr Ek Tu
DDLJ

They loved em all except, SURPRISE, DDLJ.
I know, I'm still reeling from shock. They absolutely hated it.
They're keen on Cocktail coz they like the songs and danced to a couple on the wedding, so I narrated the story to another friend to ask if that's work and instantly she's like, "Isnt that kinda what happened in MDK?"

So I was all hmmm... 😆
