Sonam was quite good in this movie! you might be surprised! 😛 Mausam's only issue was the climax and length!

I can't seem to figure out what annoys me more, her mile long smile or her acting. I'll give it a pass.

Mhmm, the Punjab portion of Mausam blows all of JTHJ out of the water...even the reason for their separation is more swallow-able...it just becomes overdone by the end of the film though since they're always separating/reuniting. I liked Harry-Aayat's reunion way better than Samar-Akira's too. Not to mention Sonam's acting as Aayat was a few million times better than Katrina as Meera.

PK is right, the length ended up being the main flaw...a good 30-40 minutes chopped off, especially with the ridiculous climax and it would have done much better. The climax with the horse really really killed everything.

it was a more honest effort i agree...

tht said i didnt particularly root for either of the couples (harry ayat or meera samar) and sonam for some strange reason repulses me onscreen...
but atleast mausam had a fairly legit first half...

^Fair enough..

I feel the same way about Katrina, especially after watching her single-highhandedly make JTHJ 100 times worse than it was 😆

😆...im perfectly okay with katrina and can enjoy watching her onscreen to a large extent as long as she dosent do roles tht require acting out of her...the latter is when i feel like throwing things at the screen...

i usually dunt like movies that proclaim themselves to be great love stories in the trailers...😆...the love stories i do like always end up liking are the ones that are the least promoted aspect of the movie...

like gayatri and srk in swades
ranbir and pc in barfi
saif n vidya in parineeta
anushka n ranveer in BBB...

etc etc...😆

I loved Mausam, it gave you that real Bollywood wali feeling. The romance was so pure, innocent and decent! So much chemistry without the need of an intimate/kiss scene!
Such movies do not release that often anymore.. the only thing which indeed annoyed me was the length. They just kept dragging it! I am sure if they had just cut the last 30 minutes of the movie, it would have been a huge success :)

I can only bear Kat in movies where she's there for 15 minutes 😆 Anything longer is too much for me, but I hear ya..she's much more likable in films where she doesn't have to actually act like in ZNMD. The only movie I remember genuinely liking her in was NL maybe. Think she was playing herself there..but whatever it was, she was a lot better there...and not to mention looked the best in that film as well. 😆

Haha, I agree...Mausam could have done away with the "epic romance" promotions..let the audience decide if its epic or not.

I actually liked Mausam...I could feel a SINCERITY in the movie...yes some bits were dragged out, Sonam's "acting" patchy in many bits...Shahid hamming in the Scotland portions...some W*F bits in the storyline.

But overall I thought the movie was a good attempt...I'm probably the only person who even liked the ending...one of those very very rare moments where even Sonam acted a bit...apart from her bits in Delhi 6.

And yes, the Punjab portions are the highlight of the movie...very few movies get that genuine rustic tone of a village in Punjab right and this was one of those...the music of the movie was very nice too.

Some bits in the movie were simply genius in their artistry and thehraav...for that I do applaud Pankaj Kapoor...but overall yes, he could have used better editing and tightening of the storyline...also yes some bits that they attempted to make sweepingly larger than life didn't quite come out like that.

I haven't seen JTHJ so can't comment in comparison but Mausam was a decent watch...better than a lot of crap that comes out.

^Anu, yayy! Even I liked Mausam. I still think it gets a little too much flak because it's not as bad as it was made out to be...it was a decent effort despite its flaws because like you said there was a SINCERITY to it. You could see the effort put in by everyone..it didn't fail for not trying at least.

I remember thinking the film picked up again in Ahmedabad during the Godhra riots..and the end was fine until they got together and the conversation they had there was sweet too, with a nice message...but the bit that followed with the horse + baby rescue + arm working again was too much though..I don't get the point of it. It could have been edited out.

...and dare I say it? Mausam was infinitely time more bearable than Rockstar which was...just...

About JTHJ, if you haven't seen it...then maybe you can watch on fast-forward mode if you really must 😆 Actually, if they've uploaded the video for the title track, it's the best part...the most sincere part of the film, the most touching part...watching Yash Chopra shoot & how excited/happy he was. Wish he hadn't been let down by his son's script + his leading "heroine's" puke-worthy attempt to act :( I remember walking out & feeling bad for both Yash Chopra and SRK for having been saddled with trying to save a film with very little to work with. ...

LOL heya Himani...yep I'm the only person I know of who even likes the horse + baby rescue + arm working again ending😛😆...cuz I honestly saw the IDEA that he was trying to go for...all of those things symbolized hope...in the middle of all that despair and death around them, they found hope in these forms...a new start to their lives in the midst of all that tragedy...atleast that's how I interpreted it...everyone else ofcourse only W*F-es it😆...

Otherwise yeah I also liked the Godhra riots bits...the bit when they are reunited and talking in that pipe were nice too.

I'm yet to watch Rockstar also😆...Ranbir could only drag me to the movies for Barfi...lol...Rockstar didn't connect to me from the promos only...might watch it someday on TV maybe...lol

Re: JTHJ...lol another one I'll have to wait to get around to...Sony should oblige with a TV premiere in another couple of months I'm guessing...Aditya Chopra's scripting toh...bhagwaan hi bachaaye.
