I turned around and said Hum dono mele mein bichde hue bhai behan hai kya... Poor guy did not know what to say. My sis dragged me from there saying You scarred that guy for life. He won't even address his sister as didi from now on... 😆

LMAO Maddy!! 🤣 You must've scared him off Didis forever. 😆 😆
@-Ksh-...depends yaar. Depends on what the parents make you call your sibling.

No it is a matter of personal preference and choice. I'm six years older than my sister, but I prefer that she call me by my name. Same thing goes for all my cousins no matter how much younger to me they are. I don't call any of my older cousins didi or bhai or anything. This to me is a trivial matter to pick on someone about. Maybe in some families it is a big deal, but in many families these days it is common for siblings and cousins to be on a first name basis.

People can call their siblings and cousins by name, no problem. But some people seem to be putting down the custom too. There's nothing wrong with addressing them with some other word specific to the relationship. Just because they do so doesn't mean they are not modern. There are other cultures too that don't address those elder to them by their names. That doesn't make them regressive or non-modern.

Beyond_the_Veil, the MP is tongue in cheek. As was the Kajol post initially. 😆

My older sister is 11 years older than me and never once in my life have I every called her didi, it isn't a must!

I call everyone by their name my brothers, brother-in-laws, cousins, sister-in-laws...

I even call my mum by her name most the time, cause she when you are out in public in a room full of aunties and you shout mum... everyone will hear you but your mum 😆

@chocolover89

well yeah but wouldn't u be embarrassed? I would if I'd be in my 30s my sis in her 40s and I'd still call her didi. idk

sorry for interfering. But would you stop calling your parents mom/dad(or whatever you address with) when you are 30+? I am sorry but its really dumb. No matter what Hrithik and his sister age is and no matter what she has been through.. her relation with Hrithik doesn't change! I don't see the reason why he shouldn't call her didi just because they have grown up now 😕

Part of Indian culture...since when? 😆 I have many cousins who are more than 9 years younger than me who refer to me by name...and...I like it that way! Calling somebody Didi or Akka or any such term is a choice that differs from family to family...nothing to do with respect or the Indian culture!

my brother is 9 years elder to me, and i don't call him, bhai/bhaiya. I just call him by his name. It doesn't mean you don't respect them.
