Salman Aishwarya was already popular before she even enter bollywood... she was miss world.. she had a lot of offers... of big filmmakers.. yeah maybe of her pretty face... but that is bollywood for you... 😃 so Salman had nothing to do with it.. it was Aishwarya who denied these big roles.. because she wanted to get notice in movies where she really had a role.. or where she could learn acting.... so her first movie was with director Mani Ratman.. Hum dil de chuke same and Taal where her big succes commercially.. and people notice she could act.. but these two movies.. she was just beginning of her career.. but had nothing to do with Salman telling directors you should...cast Aishwarya... Aishwarya had already had big offers of directors.. Salman had no positive influence on ... her career.. only negative.. already stated.. why! I consider Salman.. the worst phase of Aishwarya life.. and career.. wish she never dated him... lol it is better to have Salman as your friend .. than boyfriend... 😆

Ok first of all, ppl knew who Aishu was!

After that Coke commercial, ppl wanted to know more about "Sanju"...ring a bell or is that way past everyone's time?!

Also, she won Miss World and a lot of people knew of her. Yash Chopra offered by Dil Toh Pagal Hai way back even before she was Salman Khan's girlfriend and she was also offered Khamoshi and Raja Hindustani...and she was not friends with any of the Khans!

Her pull factor was her beauty, which was different from most actresses back then...her eyes, her innocence...she was the girl next door but she could be HOT!

She did have a name for herself also b/c she was a top model and then she was asked to do Miss India by someone and she didn't want to do it...post Miss World she wanted to get her architecture degree and it was Yash Chopra who told her to finish her education and then come back and design his sets and ultimately do his films, b/c she's meant to be an actress! There was so SK association!

Also, Hum Dil wasn't successful just b/c Aishu was Sallu's GF! The songs were good, interesting story, powerful performances, and beautiful backdrops....it was HIT written all over it!

And with D2...her films were all flops, but critical successes and D2 really gave her career another push after she lost out on some biggies with the Khans. Her and Hrithik's jodi and hot chemistry was so the pull factor....yeah she was annoying in the film, but to date it's her biggest commercial success, while actually Robot is...and since everyone here only care about "commercial" success...then here it is!

I don't understand people saying that Salman made Aishwarya succesfull. Aishwarya made herself succesfull and popular. Salman didn't helped her at all in her career. He is the worst thing happen to her. He almost destroyed her career.

If Salman made her career he was very successfull in almost destroying too. Why not acknowledge that too ? It goes both ways - why not credit the mightly Khans for her fall as well ?

arey, how can anyone acknowledge that their beloved favourite also is responsible for throwing her out of movies using his influence... 😛😛😛 hypocrisy, i tell you...!

recommending her to directors does NOT equate to her success though... simple fact, which unfortunately, is kinda hard to admit... 😉😛😛😛 if only recommendations worked in the industry, those stars would be on top right now... but they are NOT... says a lot... but hey, we should be selective naa, where credit should be given... 😉 and how can any credit can be given to ash, who dared to stand up against the khans... how dare she...? 😲

as for surviving... everyone finds their own paths... khans are not the ONLY route of survival in bollywood... kisi ke paas khans ka support, so kisi pe paas roshans ka, so kisi ke paas YRF ka, so kisi ke paas VVC ka, and kisi ke paas barjaatyas ka... 😛😛😛 everyone gets their break in some form or the other...!!

Raincoat and such films, don't count... those films are obviously not popular with the audiences. How many actually saw that film? I haven't for sure! These are just her critically acclaimed films. If you measure in terms of boxoffice hits/popularity..don't recall any of her movies after the Khans that were really famous. If she had Robot, than Kareena also had Golmaal 3.

i agree with your first paragraph...

but second, no... ash also had dhoom 2, for which she got a lot of critical acclaim... then she had jodha akbar... which was also a blockbuster hit... both of the movies were with hrithik....! and just because some people are not familiar (or perhaps don't want to acknowledge this), doesn't mean she didn't have any other hits... she isn't among the top names magically, is she...? 😛😛😛😛 though, the bachan name did help her... Guru was also a hit and critically acclaimed... and here, i'm not talking about her offbeat movies (which supposedly do not count), but ones that were popular with the aam janta...! 😛😛😛

but she did survive in between there, on her own... not working with two of the khans and breaking up with the other khan certainly cost her... but hey, she did not suck up to any of them and made her own path.... Tongue

Exactly ... N... You just cant take credit away from the girls just bcoz they debuted with a so and so ... or just bcoz she dated a so and so and she became famous....

Agree big launch gives a big boost but thats it...After that they are on their own.... Vidya got a perfect tailor made role...But after that debut if she had failed to make a connect with the audience in her subsequent films she would have been history today...

For example....Look at Gracy Singh... Same career path like Vidya... Actually better than Vidya...

A debut film became a BB.... Aamir Khan backing project...after that a hugely successful Munna bhai with VVC backing it.... But where is she today...

Just bcoz a big production house backed you or a big Khan backed you is no guarantee for success....

We just cannot take away the success of Ash.. Vidya... Kareena... PC ...Kat . etc saying that ..oh big deal...they are this huge bcoz of a Khan or a Akki or a so and so....

These girls had that X factor.... or the oomph... or the pulse to connect with the audience and that is what got them to the top....

And backing ka kya hai.... Everyone needs a backing...be it a male actor or a female actor....

i know, ehh... what's so hard about giving credit where it's due...?

and people saying ash is a bad actress, when they are praising some of the most mediocre of the actors to the skies... really is quite amusing...

actresses get so much backlash though... the other day, i read some of the comments on youtube for deepika... and my goodness, those people have literally NO manners whatsoever... ugh...

why not question the success of the powerful actors too...? even they had backing one way or another... they did not automatically become the top names magically, did they... aisa hota to kya hi baat thi... wave the magic wand and anyone becomes popular...

and how does recommending someone MAKES or BREAKS their career...?? someone really needs to explain that to me... because i don't see that in the practical world.... 😛😛😛 ab dream world mein to sab possible hai... as per Inception (i finally saw it, lmao).... 😆😆😆
