'Jai Ho' did not deserve an Oscar: Jagjit Singh - Page 3

I totally agree with Jagjit Singh! Jai ho is not AR Rehmans best.

Jai Ho may not be Rahman's best work, but in the oscars Rahman is not competing against his past work. He is competing against other people's work for the same year. In 2008 you can't say that he should get an award for choti si asha.

The Academy heard the soundtracks from this year's english films, and nominated those it thought were the best, and then awarded Rahman the oscar because they thought his was the best out of that lot. it does not mean that this is Rahman's best work. Sometimes you might not get an award for your best work because that year someone else was better, and get awarded for something else not as brilliant or amazing, but still good enough to edge out all other competition.

thats just how awards work. I don't understand why Jagjit Singh is so upset by thus.

so what's his point?......Rahman wasn't being awarded based on his past and current compositions...these people make me sick...can't they just SHUT their mouths and try to remain dignified in the views of the public? And for once, can they not APPRECIATE a collegue? Be happy for him in his time of glory? Is it really that hard?

honestly i dont care whether jai ho deserved it or not...all i know is that Rehman deserved this oscar long back! if anyone from india's music industry deserved an oscar..it has to be him! im glad he won...i dont care for which song he won..yes this is not his best work...but then his previous work never made it to the oscars... we always knew rehman is brilliant...n with the oscars..the whole world came to know!

On another note, I did enjoy 'Jai ho' cuz it is still a good song.

I'm surprised at the dig about Masakali though.....I thought it was an intriguingly written song....something different from the usual fare.....Prasoon Joshi did a good job with the lyrics I felt.

loads of people are using SlumDog's name for some of their personal gains. Every tom dick & Harry has an opinion on the movie. The biggest joke is ARR the one person who should actually be speaking is tired of the media attention and has gone undeground.
