He s clearly homophobic, there is no doubt in that it was evident in episode 1 when he made fun of Andy doing hand signs and all replying to Andy's "Hey" ... I personally did not like him after that point... And you are right it is not necessary that ppl find out about their sexual-preferences in their teenage already, it can come at any point of age. And yes the trigger can be ANYTHING... but i dont want to sound "ultimate" about this, his homophobia can be reasoned by anything... cuz if u look at him closely u will see that he actually is a very week person himself.. he will NEVER ever mess with someone who is or seems stronger than him...Armaan or Aijaz for example.. he will always express his dislike towards someone who is weaker...and in his mind a homosexual person can be that.
...his insecurity about Gauhar shows that clearly too, he is discussing with her that he doesnt like how she did lead on Aijaz, which i personally think was right as it should have been told to her... but at the same time a "strong" man would actually step up and protect the woman he cares about...(which he did in Andy's case - wrong or right tht is a different issue) ...his behavior clearly shows that he does not have enough guts to face Aijaz, that is y he is projecting his jealousy on Gauhar.. again that shows the weakness in him.. but at the same time he does feel the need to portray himself as a "strong man".. so he simply attacks women (his comments to Sophia today, for example) or homosexual men, as they r in his eyes weak...
On top of that he is a bully and even there he attacks weaker ppl... so it can b also that he has faced a lot of bullying in his childhood, which gave him the complex of being weak and not being able to speak up against stronger ppl...and now he is trying to compensate that with showing "strength" in the same way than others (bullies) showed with him earlier... so what i am trying to say is that it is not necessary that he has homosexual tendencies which he is not aware of, it can also be that he has some repressed issues from childhood which he doesnt know how to solve than "defense by offense" ... u know what i mean?
oh and the fact that he chose a partner who is so "aggressive" by nature and has a "mummy-syndrome", aslo shows that he subconsciously seeks for protection.
