Having said that I think both girls generally dress well and carry themselves with tremendous dignity and that's all that should matter. Gauhar has done bikini shoots and looks more classy than a lot of women who wear sarees without having the ability to carry those out properly.

Why doesn't BB bring women from other walks of life? Why not sampat paul like social worker? Why not a news reporter? Why is there a veena, sana and gauhar? That was my point.

I'm not talking about the relationship with god, may be they are closer to god who knows. I'm just amused and confused by the different facets of the contestants in general. I had become a huge Gauhar fan and then I saw Khan sisters which really altered my perception. She is nothing like that on BB. Many of these contestants are really self righteous, conceited and like to preach others (regardless of religion) but they themselves falter all the time. Armaan Kohli saab insults women throughout the season and then accuses Kushal of being disrespectful. Pratyusha calls Tanisha a cheap drunk girl in the bar but was pissed when Andy said a few things about her personal life. And lastly, all of them are lukhaas, may be one is more of a lukhaa than the other but a lukhaa none the less, but they keep talking about each other's aukaat. It's just whack.😆

I don't follow the show everyday so missed the episodes where Pratus bitched about Tanisha and what Andy said about her.

All I want to point is that i am strictly against such hypocrites like Prats, don't tell me she has never been in a bar and got drunk? and about being cheap, she doesn't even need to go to a bar to look cheap, her daily look is of some cheap star. Do these people think they are saints and everyone else in their surrounding areas are s**ts?

Anyways returning back to Sana, correct me but she didnt really bitch about other people getting drunk and then doing the exact same herself? I am impressed that she used to pray five times a day, she can get pissed as much as she wants and then ask forgiveness from Allah in her soberness 😆

King Anu Who wants to watch an average girl on tv? They need girls like Gauhar, Veena Malika, Sara Khan and Sunny Leone to make their TRP scream DHOOOM MACHALE!

Be honest, would you really want to see an everyday goodlooking girl on TV? I like such natuanki girls on tv!

This is a serious point I raised. I based it on my background because there I can be sure. I cannot base it on others because there I do not have much knowledge. Even here I am not aware of norms in India.

So I have this picture of an average Muslim girl and to me these two do not fall in that. If you think I am wrong then that is point 1. If you agree then comes my real point i.e. how come we see this story with veena, sana, gauhar. Where are your average people? Like that bearded guy from last year. Like sampat pal.

I think BB does this to create taboo and therefore attract TRPs. Other answer could be that since it picks from entertainment industry there you see such people. Then again why not change it and bring someone from different walks of life. There is definitely stereotyping being done

I don't think there is no such thing as average indian girl forget about average indian muslim girl. There is way too much diversity. I'm not Muslim but I lived in Bombay most of my life, which I think is a microcosm of India. What I have generally noticed is that people from the lower strata of the society tend to be more religious whereas those from upper strata and upper middle class tend to be more liberal, westernized. Ofcourse this is all subject to exceptions and aberrations.

There have been average muslim characters in early seasons of BB like Ehsaan Qureshi (comedian), Elina (commmoner), Abaas Qazmi (lawyer), Zulfi Sayed (small actor).

Kashif was there in season 6 too and they claimed he was an aam admi but turns out he is a behind the scenes regular in many salman movies.

Veena was def. for TRP but it had more to do with her Pakistani identity. But channel isn't to blame entirely here , she is also extremely ambitious. Everyone saw the controversies and TV debates after that. I was seeing some Canadian channel (sun tv?) and the news broadcaster was hailing her as a role model for oppressed women. lol.

Sana Khan isn't that controversial except that one ad she did. I didn't find Season 6 to be a controversial season overall now that I have seen season 7.

Gauhar, the lesser said the better lol. I saw Khan sisters and Jhalak clips. How come she is in middle of some controversy and always the persecuted one on every show ? coincidence right ? haha.

lol okay. Yes that was my point basically i.e. they are stereotyping for TRP purpose. My focus was on Muslim because I have background and observations there. Others can form opinions about the show with their own observations. In the end point is that this is a WWE type of show. It should not happen and we should see girls from different walks of life

Fair point

I hope what you said is right. I personally feel that they do stereotype and I think it is being done for TRP. I would like to see girls from different walks of life. I found this odd and hence created this topic

Yea I wouldn't put it past endeamol either. They might be stereotyping who knows ? Because the show has a deep psychological aspect to it. It messes with your mind. And let's face it most companies are into data mining and trend tracking these days. They know exactly what sells. This is why I was also thinking that may be Salman is trying to come across as a villain on purpose. He wants people to hate him because it feeds into the hate many people have for him. Bad boy image and everything. Companies here in west are specifically marketing products towards people of certain races, ethnicity, religions etc. It is not a secret and it's a part of the trade.

@ King Anu.

Like I have said before and i think someone else has mentioned also. This show is not for stereotyping what is an average Muslim or Hindu or Average Indian for that matter. To define, average we need to know what average is to start of with, and average hasn't got a definition. it is subjective.

I doubt, Average Sikh Girls are like Sunny Leone, I doubt average Hindu Girls are like Pratusha, I doubt average Muslims are like Veena Malik. There is no such thing as average. What is average to me, is not average to you and vice versa. However, they belong from the glamour world and justified to be slightly more glamorous than the average desi girls. Anyways, they are all here to represent themselves. Not average of anything.

tum itna jo ghussa dikha rahe ho
kya baat hai jis ko chupa rahe ho

1) I did say average according to me

2) There are three points to this topic

a) me asking if these girls represent your average muslim girl in india
b) if not then what are the odds of them getting picked up by the show
c) if the odds are low then what are the reasons behind them getting an opportunity

3) Different people gave different reasons but the main one was that it is an entertainment show so they picked from entertainment industry and therefore such behavior

I only said they do pick from other walks of life as well but here they are not doing it since 3-4 years and I think it is deliberate stereotyping as perhaps that is one of their trps.

Hope this summary is clear. lol
