CHAPTER-9

(Bijoliya)

The next morning saw pratap brandishing his sword and his bow and arrows.When ajabde came in after her daily prayers,she was surprised to see him preparing his weapons.

ajab:kp,aap kahin jaa rahein hain?

kp:haan ajabde,hum shikaar par jaa rahein hain.

ajab:kya?toh phir hum bhi chalenge aapke saath.

kp:nahin ajabde,aapko chalne ki koi awashyakta nahin hai.

ajab:kintu aapne toh humme vachan diya hai naa ki aap humme chod kar kahin nahi jayenge?

kp:hum aapko chodkar nahi jaa rahein hain ajabde.hum toh keval patta ke saath kuch samay ke liye aakhet par jaa rahein hain.aur jald hi laut aayenge.

ajab:toh aapko humare bhi aapke saath chalne par koi apatti nahi honi chahiye.

kp:nahi,nahi ajabde bhala aap kyun kasht kar rahin hain.aapko swayam ka dhyan rakhna chahiye.

ajab:humne keh diya ki hum chalenge,toh chalenge.aap humme humare bhaisa ke saath aakhet par jaane se nahi rok sakte.

kp:accha thik hai,aap jiti aur hum hare bas.ab aap shighra tayar ho jayiye.tab tak hum aapki pratiksha kartein hain.

ajab:ji kp.

Ajabde quickly prepared herself for the hunting expedition and joined the others.She looked astonishing in her new warrior dress and kp couldn't help staring at her.He was lost once again in her pretty eyes until patta coughed a bit.

patta:kp,jija ab hum chalein.

kp:haan,haan chaliye.

patta:vaise jija,aap kyun chali aayi humare saath?aapko iss samay vishram ki awashyakta hai.aapko apna aur humare bhanje ya bhanji ka dhyan rakhna chahiye.kp,aapne inhe roka kyun nahi?

kp:humne koshish toh bahut ki thi parantu koi nahi jit sakta aapki jija se.

patta:so toh hai.

The trio reached the appointed place laughing and chatting but soon pratap was ahead of the others speeding on his unmatched horse chetak.He stopped only when he realised he was lost.He looked around himself trying to figure out the right way.Ajab too was lost in her bid to reach kp and patta was left far behind.

As pratap was just trying to reach the other two he heard some low sounds.He paused a bit to listen more clearly.These were approaching footsteps and they were coming nearer and nearer.He was quite sure that the footsteps were of some wild beast and he hurried to look for patta and ajabde.Soon he spotted ajabde,but looking closely, he was scared out of his wits.What he saw was beyond fright,there was a ferocious tiger prancing just behind his ajab and it was waiting to pounce on her any time.He ran at the top of his speed and pushed her aside.In this process the tiger pounced on him and scratched his arms.Kp,fought the powerful tiger with his bare hands.He pushed it hard but was unable to free himself from its strong clutches.He kicked hard on its upper body sending the tiger a few centimeters away.He himself jumped on the beast like another fearless tiger and punched its face.The tiger caught hold of his legs with its sharp claws but kp continued to wage his war undeterred.His efforts succeeded in exhausting the tiger and he started gaining an upper edge over it.Finally with a mighty blow he killed the tiger with the tiger letting out a fearful roar which was enough to instil terror in the hearts of even the mightiest of the mighty.

All this while ajabde was standing in a corner terrorized and helpless.She was shocked at first for kp pushing her but her whole being trembled at seeing him fighting the hungry beast.

She rushed to him weeping and crying.

ajabde:(hugging him tightly and breathing heavily)kp,aap...aap thik toh hain naa?(looking closely at the wounds all over his body)kitni chotein aayin hain aapko.aur yeh sab keval humari vajah se.humme aana hi nahi chahiye tha aapke saath.yeh sab humare karan hua hai.humme kshama kar dijiye...parantu hum toh shayad aapki kshama ke bhi laayak nahin hain.

And she cried unconsolably while still tightly hugging him.

kp:(consoling her)aapko kshama mangne ki koi awashyakta nahi hai ajabde.isme aapka koi dosh nahi hai.jo kuch bhi hua voh sab ek haadsa tha aur kuch nahi.

ajab(still sobbing):nahi kp,yeh sab humari hi galti hai.na hum aapke saath aate aur naa hi aap humme bachane ke liye iss tarah uss sher se bhidte.aapko kya awashyakta thi humme bachane ki?

kp:nahi,nahi ajabde.humme toh aapko bachana hi tha.aap humare liye humare jivan se bhi adhik mulyavaan hain.aap hi batayiye yadi aaj aapko kuch ho jaata toh kya hum aapke bina ji paate?

ajab: shayad nahi,kintu kam-se-kam humme toh aapko iss tarah ghayal awastha mein nahi dekhna padta.kam-se-kam aap toh surakshit rehte.

kp:ab aap swayam ko dosh dena band karein.(trying to smile)aur phir yeh chotein,yeh toh abhushan hain ek sacche rajput yoddha ke liye.humme toh dhanyawad karna chahiye aapka.

And they both broke down in each others arms.

Meanwhile patta too reached there hearing the loud roars of both the tigers.He was shocked to see the aggressive animal lieing dead bathed in blood.He questioned the couple who were still trying to comfort each other.

patta:yeh sab kaise hua jija?kp,aapka itna rakt kaise beh raha hai?aap thik toh hain na?

Kp explained everything to patta while ajabde was still ashamed to speak of her own folly.

patta:jija,aap chinta na karein jaisa ki inhone kaha aapka koi dosh nahi hai.sab kuch thik ho jayega jija.aap kripya shant ho jayiye.eklingji ka dhanyawad jo aap dono bilkul thik hain.

Kp,by now could barely stand with all those bruises over his iron body.He was totally tired and thus he soon collapsed in agony.

patta:kp,kp uthiye...jija humari sahayata kijiye humme inhe jald hi vapas bijoliya le jana hoga vaidji ke paas.

Patta and ajab helped pratap onto his horse chetak.Even in this unconscious state kp was groaning in pain.The faithful animal carried kp to bijoliya followed by ajab& patta on their horses.
