CHAPTER-5
(chittor palace)
kp was greeted by all the samants of the court,who congratulated him as he was going to become a father.The court proceedings followed,but kp's mind was somewhere else.He was physically present at the court but his whole concentration was on ajab &he was really worried for her.
kp(thinking):na jane ajabde ne bhojan kiya ya nahi. na jaane ve iss samay kya kar rahi hongi.aur hum,humne to unhe pratah kal,talwarbazi mein uljha liya jabki hume acchi tarah gyat hai ki unhe vishram ki awashyakta hai.
Finally,when the proceedings were over,kp rushed to be at ajab's side. When he finally reached her,she was shouting at the dasis.
ajab:humne kaha na aapse,ki hume nahi khana.hume bilkul man nahi hai.aap chali jayiye yahaan se.
kp was taken aback as he had seen her first time like this,shouting at the dasis. Usually she was very caring and considerate towards all,even the servants.He was now frightened a bit at her bad mood and was afraid that she hadn't forgiven him for attacking her in the morning.He was just deciding whether to go in or not when vb passed by.She was naturally surprised at kp for standing in a corner like that.
vb:kp,aap iss tarah yahan kyun khade hain?
kp:voh hum... dekhiye na chotima,na jaane aaj ajabde ko kya ho gaya hai.humne pehle to kabhi unhe iss tarah dasiyo ko daat te hue nahi dekha.
vb(smiling):aap chinta naa karein kp,aise samay mein aisa ho jaata hai.kintu aap chinta naa karein.aap jayiye unke paas.
Thus,reassured by vb,kp entered the room.
kp:ajabde,aap bhojan kyun nahi kar rahin hain?
ajab:humne kaha na ki hume nahi khana.humara man nahi hai iss samay.
kp:ajabde,aisa mat kahiye.aapko iss samay iski awashyakta hai.layiye,hum aapko swayam khilate hain.
And kp fed ajab with his own hands.Ajab was more than happy to eat from kp's hands and readily ate the food .
kp:ajabde,vaise aap hain to bahut hi chalaak.pehle aapne hume talwarbazi mein uljhaya aur phir jab dajiraj wahaan aaye,to aap chup-chap vahaan se nau-do-gyarah ho gayin.
ajab:(blushing)aur hum karte bhi kya,dajiraj ne hum dono ko dekh liya tha.
kp:toh kya hua,yadi unhone hume dekh bhi liya to kya.aap humari patni hai aur aapke saath samay bitane ke liye hume kisi ki bhi anumati ki awashyakta nahi hai.
Saying so,he hugged her tightly.
ajab:kp,chodiye hume.koi dekh lega.
kp:yahaan koi nahi hai,ajabde.aur yadi hoga bhi to hum nahi darte kisi se.
Then he caressed her face lovingly and lightly placed a kiss on her cheeks.Then letting her go,he continued.
kp:aur ab ek baat kaan kholkar sun lijiye aap,abse aap samay par bhojan karengi aur samay par vishram karengi.yadi aapne aise nahi kiya toh...
ajab:toh kya kp??
kp:toh hum aapse rusht ho jayenge.
ajab:toh kya aap humse adhik samay tak rusht reh sakte hain?
kp:(smiling)nahi ajabde,kintu aapko aisa karna hoga.aapko apna dhyan rakhna chahiye ajabde.
ajab:(smiling)aapka hukam sar aankho par kunwar pratap singh.
And she broke out laughing followed by kp.
(bijoliya palace)
Hb made sure that rawatji's stay in bijoliya was comfortable.She cooked meals for him with her own hands which was her way of thanking him for bringing her such a lovely peace of news.She thanked him every now and then for visiting her in bijoliya and each time rawatji said that she was his sister and what he did was only his duty towards her.Besides,ranaji himself asked him to do so.He added that she must accompany him to chittor and meet her daughter whom she hadn't met for a long time now.But hb refused each time and insisted that there were some important matters in bijoliya, and she couldn't leave for chittor now,even if she wanted to.
After two days rawatji decided to take leave of his sister and return back to chittor.Hb handed him a letter and asked him to give it to ajab,on his return.
hb:bhaisa,hum ek baar punah aapka dhanyawad karna chahenge.
rawatji:nahi,nahi behan.yeh to humara aapke prati aur humari bhanji ke prati kartavya tha.vaise, hum to abhi bhi aapse keh rahein hain ki aap kuch din humare sath chittor chalein.
hb:nahi rawatji,hum iss samay chittor nahi ja sakte.kintu aap kripya ye patra ajabde ko de dijiyega.aur unse kahiyega ki unki maa ko unki bahut yaad aa rahi.ve unse milne aana to chahti thi kintu kuch anya karano se aisa nahi kar saki.unse kahiyega ki ve apna dhyan rakhein.aur aap bhi,apna dhyan rakhiyega.
rawatji:ji,ab hum chalte hain.khamma ghani.
hb:ghani khamma.
And so rawatji mounted his horse and returned homewards,to chittor.
