I have not been a very active member of this forum, but I am an ardent watcher of Beyhadh since it's first episode hit the screens.

  • My interest in this show was four essential reasons:

1) Jen - I have been in head over heels in love with her since forever. Back date to Sneha in KZK and on ward.

2) Aneri - Became a fan since NAUC wherein she gave life to a character and portrayed such clean acting.

3) Promos - Before the show went on floors, its marketing attracted a strong audience.

4) Storyline - A never-seen-before plot was arranged, the trigger being that Jen is playing a shady character. It gave me the feels of Shah Rukh Khan's characters from Darr and Baazigar.

  • The Story, Characters and Who's Who:

While I have read posts on certain viewers supporting Maya-Arjun whereas others supporting Saanjh-Arjun, I'd like to make it clear that I do not hold a personal favourite. I am a fan of both actors in their own platforms as actors and hold no opinion on which pairing I like better on the show.

1) Since the beginning of the show (and hints caught from the promos), it has been established that Maya is suffering from a certain psychological disorder, owing to an abusive father and a rather not-so-normal childhood. She relied on love from her mother, thinking that her mother is only place she can find solace. Unfortunately Jhanvi has also been a victim of abuse, although she still loves her husband and that further affected and still affects the mental stability of Maya. This confusion resulted in Maya placing all kinds of restrictions on Jhanvi's freedom, to the extent that at some point, as a viewer, you tend to think that Maya is torturing her mother.

Hang in there, this is still all a one-sided story. Every coin has two sides and similarly, so does Maya's story. Maya is a bewildered soul. It is true that she has (in a very filmy manner) dismissed a number of her staff at Fashion & The City when they make a silly mistake, and it is also true that she murdered the priest who showed her a mirror image of herself in Mauritius.

To understand Maya, you need to sympathise with her, instead of getting furious at her. Jhanvi has been a good-for-nothing mother and Maya faced her abusive father and a harsh world at a very tender age, alone. Had Maya received the right kind of love during those years and gotten the guidance she needed, she would not have become the stone-hearted person she is.

Maya is nothing but insecure of Arjun, insecure of Jhanvi, and insecure about every person who is close to her, because she feels that they can leave her at any given point. To stop that from happening, she ensures that nobody is close to those people, apart from herself. Hence we get to witness the lonely Jhanvi and the troubled Saanjh.

It is at that point wherein Maya will get rid of her insecurities and move on from her dark past, when she will be able to lead a normal and happy life, perhaps even a life without Arjun in it.

2) Voila! This is where Arjun and especially Saanjh come in question. These two characters have been shaped in a form where they will first like Maya, then dislike Maya, then probably get to the stage of hating Maya (especially for Arjun) before understanding Maya and why she has become what she is.

We have already gotten hints of how Saanjh found out that Maya's father was Ashwin, through the law firm she worked at. She further noticed how Maya never spoke of her father and pretended he never existed despite him being alive. I am certain that in the near future of this show, it will be Saanjh who will discover the truth about Ashwin and his abusive nature towards Maya and it will further be Saanjh who will persuade Arjun to help Maya come out of this.

Arjun will most likely, at that point, be in a position where he will be hating Maya for being a control freak, for spoiling his relationships with everyone and for every possible wrong that has happened in his life. But it will be Saanjh who will understand Maya and her dilemma - and this is exactly what I am looking forward to watching.

I know for sure that Prem, Suman and Vandana will be against any such approach, but knowing the kind of nature that the character of Saanjh has been given, she will go against the odds to help Maya, and persuade Arjun into doing so as well.

Amid all this fiasco, I don't know whether Arjun will begin to love Saanjh for the person she is or realise that Maya is still his love, if he were to minus out the problems she gave him. Maya will be a reformed person who will find solace and happiness even she is alone and that is probably how the show will bid farewell.

Anyhow, I hope you guys had a good read of my two cents? I'm not too sure if did make sense at all and whether such a thought/ opinion has been posted here before. Just felt like voicing out my view and hence did!

Have a great week ahead! x

Hey there, thanks for your views, it's all wonderfully written, there's just a couple of thing I'd like to point out/clarify. It's not been proved that Maya was the one who murdered the priest, we have no proof so far, so that statement would just be an assumption at the moment. Regarding the fact that Saanjh will find out about Ashwin being abusive, in case you missed yesterday's episode, Maya revealed it publicly, so it wasn't Saanjh who dug for the information.
I love how you think that Arjun and Saanjh will help Maya together, I really hope that happens. There would be nothing better than that. Once again, thanks for the post!

Well written post. however, I disagree about Maya killing the priest as there is no evidence about that. Saanjh only got the information that the priest is dead but has not been killed.

Yeah, I agree - both the women are stunning and have their acting skills polished.

@ The other show - yes! Haha always been a fan of shows that show a decent fiction storyline.

Hopefully, I will try being around, thanks!

Thank you for your input, ladies! I was a tad bit late in watching the last two episodes, hence missed out on the revelation bit.

As for the priest's death - I truly hope they show another angle to it. Y'all are right, the writer might just be trying to confuse the viewers into thinking that Maya is an aggressive antagonist, only to later show that isn't after all. That's a great observation, thanks!

Just came across this thread and have to say I loved this analysis/post. From all that I have seen in Beyhad, I am actually looking forward, not to the Maya-Arjun or Saanjh-Arjun love story, but to the aspect of a Maya-Saanjh kinship. While Prince-in-shining-armor (Arjun) helping the girl (Maya) may seem brilliant, the possibility of Saanjh being the one who finds the backstory and understands Maya and helps her out instead of Arjun has so much more appeal!!! It would be a storyline that would truly be different and unique.
Fingers crossed. :)
