If I’m not mistaken, channels need trps so they get commercials or are able to generate ad revenue, so who would be the target audience of these adverts? Trp aunties or people that don’t watch tv much due to time but catch up online instead like working professionals?
If now the online audience is growing due to the rise in the working population which is an audience with a different preference or taste as compared to their preceding generation shouldn’t online trp given more importance because tv adverts will eventually become ineffective at some point or say not very effective. Already Ads placed on online platforms which you are unable to skip and coupled with premium memberships which are linked to shows that are viewed the most be an indicator of commercial success? Because it’s generating revenue right?
Also a confusion here, Sony in its app sonyliv has the live tv feature, if we watch shows through that app would it come under online trp or the Barc trp? Moreover to access the live tv feature you need to be a premium member so here instead of paying the cable operator or some other service provider we are directly paying the company that runs the channel.
