I am so happy with the response I have received on this story. Thank you so much for all the appreciation and encouragement. I am sorry for posting after so long and I hope the update doesn't disappoint.

Chapter 7

Zoya read Aditya's email. He made a lot of sense. If she had to set up a successful business, she'd have to take risks. More importantly, this was a huge opportunity for the company. She had to seize it. With a new found certainty, she picked up the phone and dialled a number.

"Hello! Sanya?!" spoke Zoya

"Hey, Zoya! How are you?" said Sanya

"I am good Sanya. I had just called to say that I am on. I'll take the contract if the offer still stands" asked Zoya

"The offer stands Zoya. I am so glad that you agreed. I'll draw up the paperwork and get back to you." replied Sanya

"That sounds great!" said Zoya

"Cool, I'll call you once everything is ready. Yayay! It's showtime!! Wuhuuu!!! Catch you later Zoya, bye!! said Sanya

"Haha! See you too Sanya!" said Zoya, hanging up.

I hope this email finds you at a good time. I hope the skies are treating you well. Where have you reached and how long will it take you to complete your flying hours? I know I am asking you too many questions but what to do? "Jahapanah hasn't graced us with this presence in some time. The praja has got used to its life, without Jahapanah. But I somehow find our room empty when I come back to it. The solitude is what I enjoy at the end of the day. I hate to admit it, but I have come to miss our banter.

Also, I have decided to take your advice and have given my nod for the new assignment for ZoSh. You were right, this is a business opportunity and must be seized. This makes me think, how did you have such clarity of thought? I have to ask, what have you been eating? Aditya Hooda's brains are really doing a good job! Mashallah!!

Enough for now. I have to go to bed. Tomorrow is a big day. I am meeting Sanya to finalise all the details and start work on the new project. You have a good time doing what you love. Reply soon

In this way, Zoya and Aditya had created a space where they were slowly finding their way to each other. It was helping them shed the demons of their past, lighten the baggage they carried and the aftermath of their former spouses' death, had begun to fade.

A few weeks later

"I am returning home after such a long time. I must pick something up for Zoya. But what should I get her? The girl doesn't seem to care for gifts. Hmm, what does she like? Clothes, sure. But will she wear them? Next, shoes? I am not too sure if I should buy something without her trying them on. What else?" Aditya was racking his brains as he roamed the streets of London thinking of a gift to take home for his wife. And suddenly it dawned on him.

"Of course!! How could I not think of this? Earrings!! Zoya loves earrings. Yes!!" And then he entered all the jewellery stores that came his way to look for something that does justice to Zoya's beauty.

Looking at the gift he picked for Zoya, he thought of the mysterious ways of life. It had brought two people together who wouldn't have met under normal circumstances as they lived in two different worlds and their paths would never have crossed.

Three months had passed. Aditya was back to work, in full earnest. He was in and out of Mumbai. It had been a pleasant transition in his life.

"Zoya" said Aditya

"Hmm" replied Zoya

"Remember the day we met for the first time?" asked Aditya

"Yes, I remember, what a fateful day it was." Said Zoya

"It was. It changed our lives forever. After that day, I couldn't imagine having a normal life." said Aditya

"Aditya, is everything ok? I mean, I haven't ever thought of you as a person who introspects loudly." asked a concerned Zoya

"Haha, that's true. life is all about discovering things, isn't it?" asked Aditya

"It is. So you were saying?" she said

"Yeah, I was saying, that most people say that destiny always works its magic and whatever happens, happens for the better. I am glad we met Zoya. All the turmoil we had to face, it was for a reason. It hurts to think that we had to go through so much pain to meet each other" He reminisced

"I wouldn't have it any other way, Aditya" she said confidently

"What? I mean why?" asked a bewildered Aditya

"The betrayal we got in our previous marriages, was something neither of us anticipated, nor did we deserve it. But it taught us some important lessons. Now that I look back, there is only one thing that comes to mind, actually two. One, I wish we hadn't experienced so much pain and there was a better way for our former spouses to tell us that what lacked in our relationship. Second, I will never forget the day we met. Never. It is one of the best memories of my life" said Zoya

"Mine too" he said, softly

Zoya had successfully organised the event for MoEA. It had boosted ZoSh's reputation significantly. The company had received multiple contracts for events. The 1 crore bank loan had been paid and and Zoya was saving money to pay off remaining loans.

"Now that you've paid all loans taken by Yash, what are your plans for ZoSh events?" asked Aditya

"All loans haven't been paid Aditya" said Zoya

"Meaning?" asked Aditya

"The 5 crores that Pooja gave Yash. That's still left." Said Zoya, nonchalantly

"Zoya, I don't want the money" Aditya said.

"But I want you to have it" she replied.

"It's not necessary" he said

"It is" she said

"No it is not. Why are you fighting me on this Zoya?" he asked.

"I am not going to get bullied by you Aditya. Not on this one. Your father had given you that money and you gave it to Pooja. It wasn't meant to be received by Yash. And the burden of it being invested in ZoSh, weighs heavily on me. I don't want to be the person who is responsible for that money going down the drain. Yash took the money but it was not his to invest. I am running ZoSh and I want the amount to be where it was intended to be, with you." said Zoya

"Zoya, firstly, I am not bullying you. Secondly, I don't care for the money." Said a concerned Aditya

"It's not about the money. Why don't you understand?" said Zoya, exhasperatedly

"Zoya?" said Aditya, gently

"It's about us. It's about me. I want to do this. I need to do this. This is the last thing that needs to be done before I can finally shut the door on the past. This in turn will be my closure." Said Zoya.

"I didn't know you felt this way. If that's the case, I am ok with it. But I am not going to use that money. I am never going to touch that money. Understood?" said Aditya.

"Whatever Aditya! I am going to make sure that I recover the amount and return it to you. Then it's yours. You can let it rot in the bank or invest it. That's your call." Said Zoya

"Ok baba. I give up. I give up. Happy?" asked Aditya

"Yes" Replied Zoya, victoriously. She had managed to get her way with him.

"I am just curious. How much of the money have you recovered? a curious Aditya asked

"Around 3.5 crores. I'll have the rest soon" replied Zoya

"Are you planning to rob a bank or me?" he asked jokingly

"Haha very funny Mr Hooda. No. I am planning no such thing. I am of selling the house in Mussourie, Yash and I lived in. He had bought it soon after we got married from the savings he had. At the time it didn't cost much. But it's in a good location, so I am getting a good price for it. That should do the job." Said Zoya, sincerely

"Great!" he said

"I know right" she said

What are your plans for ZoSh?" He asked

"I haven't thought of it. I have a few things in mind. First, I am thinking of a small revamp. Nothing much, just alter the dcor and the name. I also want to and perhaps need to hire Noor. Truth be told, I find myself at a loss with certain people. Noor has good people skills. She is an extrovert and has all the makings needed for the job. Also, I miss having her around. She is a huge support for me so I am thinking of asking her to join ZoSh. But..." she said

"But.." he asked

"But that's not what I actually want. I had never planned on taking over ZoSh events and running it. It wasn't my dream. It was Yash's. I had always thought that once I have repaid all loans and recovered the 5 crore that your father had given you, I'd sell ZoSh events to someone who was interested in the trade." She confessed

"I can take a wild guess why you'd want to throw away all that you've earned for yourself. It'll give you a sense of closure? It'll help you shut the door on the past? You only want to lose all that you've made because it will end any/all your ties with Yash. Your association with him will be over? That's what you think." He said

"Yeah, I guess so" she replied

"You know so, Zoya. But it is not as simple. By shutting down ZoSh or selling it, you think you'd be able to dissociate yourself from Yash or anything related to him. You won't. It's just not possible. You were married to him. You fell in love with him, defied your father to marry him. Eventually, the marriage ended. Nothing can change that. He will always be a part of your life. Now it is on you as to how you live your life." With that Zoya was at a loss of words. She did have a lot to ponder on.

A few months later

Aditya and Zoya had come for a holiday. It was more than a year after they got married. And according to Aditya it was high time they went out somewhere. Initially Zoya was reluctant to travel given her fear of flying in aircrafts but Aditya was having none of it and had eventually convinced her for going on vacation. Zoya had to give in. Her pilot husband had taken immense offense to the fact that despite his presence she refused to go with him on a vacation, which he thought was long overdue and well deserved.

At the hotel

"Wow!! This place is absolutely amazing. I just love the view of the Eiffel tower. It's all so romantic. You know Aditya, as a little girl, I had always dreamt of visiting Paris. It seemed so romantic from all the movies I had seen and books I had read. But coming here is a different experience altogether. The view at night is to die for." Said an excited Zoya

They had already toured the other parts of the French countryside, and both of them had decided that they'd extend their stay in Paris. They had done all they clichd activities a newlywed couple would and had enjoyed themselves thoroughly. They had made memories that'd last them a lifetime and had clicked a lot of photographs to relive those memories. Doing the little things together had brought great joy in their lives and now, all they needed was each other and that's what they wanted.

"I always wanted to bring you here. The day I landed here, I had made up my mind to bring you here. The city never ceases to amaze me. There is just something about the air that draws you. Its somewhat..." Said Aditya

"Enchanting?" she said

"Yes. Enchanting!" he said

"But not more than my beautiful wife" Saying this he sat next to Zoya and engulfed her in his embrace, as they sipped on red wine. And together, they were solitary no more.
