After watching today's episode something was tickling me and after watching the episode twice I can now pinpoint it.

I don't seem to understand why Mahendra Sood said that Priya in his eyes is a disappointment only because she's a daughter.

Usually when we see this beta/beti discrimination on ITV/Hollywood this usually happens with the youngest daughter which is not the case here. After Priya, there's Maitri and Sandy.

Is there something else that hasn't been said?

If Mahendra has such feelings towards Priya only because she was the one who found out about his second family, the beta/beti discrimination seems to be just for the sake of drama.

Here's hoping that this topic is approached in a sensible manner in order to create some positive influence in a male dominant society.

Arre Priya is the FL so people around her will blame her for everything from family misfortunes to climate change, so that we can be shown how bechari she is & we can root for her. Subtlety is an unknown trait in ITV.

Forget blaming Priya, I cannot understand how Sara & Mythri dress normally for their age, Sara found a husband also, while only Priya is under a constant cloud as if only she is affected by Mahendra’s abandonement of the family. If anyone, Sara shd be most affected - as the eldest she wld have been first to feel the burden of responsibilities & struggled to manage the jointly owned bakery. Her hubby/ inlaws may have taunted her on her background. But she seems supremely unaffected while Priya is illogically singled out. In fact aftr 2 daughters when Maithri was born a girl she wld have been even more unwanted, Mahendra’s reaction must been even worse & logically Maithri shd hv suffered more. But she is also fine & normal. Sandy’s birth was the last straw which actually led to Mahendra abandoning them but she is also masst.

I guess you can see it this way, Sara was like her mother so she kind of was a t the backseat about the whole thing. Sandy would have too young to witness or understand anything at all. Maitree is shown to be too casual and be all about herself. Priya was blamed by her father, because she was the one who got it all out about him, she was the one who witnessed it, she was the one who could call him wrong because she saw him doing wrong. So his father channelled all his defence towards hating her. To prove himself right, he blamed her , because it was just Priya who actually questioned him in this whole lot fiercely, nobody else,

Exactly Mahendra sood hates priyas guts ..and lashes out her the most because she didn't turn out a doormat like he expected and constantly shows him the mirror.

It's got 2 Logics attached to it.

1) Mahendra Sood decided to put all blame of him breaking his original Family on Priya to escape any strife like a coward.

2) The 1st daughter isn't blamed much for being a daughter. She's bestowed the blessing of being the first child of the Family.

But if the 2nd child is a daughter, then the blame is put on her head... that she started the chain cos after her came Maitreyi & Sandy too (all daughters).

If folks have watched ZGH (Priya's character is inspired from Kashaf....so there's not much doubt there), one'll grasp what the middle daughter spoke to Kashaf when she was putting all blame of their Father leaving them on her. That's the general notion society tries to input.

This I know and considering the 2nd daughter is so much more ferocious and talented, it again gets the father to blame her even more. First daughter is usually fine.

Yes this has been my question as well. How come others r so normal where as Priya is singled out. All shud hv been affected in a similar way. All were abandoned by the father. Just drama and more drama!

Agree that this cud b the reason why her father hates her. But why did she turn out like how she is. So damn extremely negative when the whole family is so positive? In fact she shud hate her father the most and take it out on him and not on the world. She shud b least affected by him bcoz he's the wrong doer. Instead when he spits out venom she is silent but she taunts Ram. In fact she shud taunt the father!! (Of course I do know she sent him to jail.) She cud hv done it to him earlier when he cheated on her mom or atleast later when he used to interfere in everything and bother them!!
