(Shaguna)she mayb the maid of the house but is just like a family member... it tells us how relationships can be - Manas and Simran, only love isnt the relation between man and a woman, it tells us someday ppl will realize their mistakes... (Urmila)and all the characters... teach us something!

totally awesome points! i never even thought about any of this once. Astitva has a different story line, but it certainly doesn't suck. Ajay knows what he wants to present on TV and he's doing just that

I totally agree with Peaches that Astitva is not a stupid show. It is very refined show where Ajay Sinha portrayed some real life problems in women's life. Actually by watching this show, we learn so many things from the show i.s from Dr. Simran's life, Abhi's life and from Aastha and Sia's life. If you compare this show with Ekta Kapoor's shows, Abhi, Manas, and Aastha could have got fake funerals and come back alive after 20 years leap.

This is not a fancy show where you see ladies expensive jewellery or sarees and other things. Dr Simran is a high class doctor but still she has a very simple living.

I think, this drama is lot better than so many other shows.

Thanks

Neelam

I enjoyed reading all of your thoughts my friends.. They are all valid..

Personally, I wouldn't call Astitva a stupid show.. There are many events that I didn't like, and issues that I simply couldn't buy them.. But overall, as na420, it teaches you many things.. Also, it makes you think that people have different reactions to similar situations.. it makes you think how would you react in a certain situation, what worng or right did they do..

The love issue between Anand & Sia, wasn't my favorite at the beginning, but the way it has been handled is really well, and not cheap at all..

There is the wig Sia wore all the time, it irritates me.. Astha's imitating voices is not logical.. Simran not having a chance to visit Goa until now!!! these are the recent things which I can recall now.. They are stupid things, but we can live with them in the serial.. 😉

Neha was right (sometimes) with her jealousey, and sometimes she was just overareacting..

I agree that Simran is always shown as the "good" person, who can make no wrong, and everybody is supporting her and so on, which in some points I feel is not true.. she is a human being who makes her own mistakes, but on the other hand, I can see how each charecter developed under the different circumestances they lived.. The best example is Abhi.. Also, Manas, who transformed from the best friend to a person who at the end felt that Simran is not perfect after all, to the extend of parting away from her without any regret.. Abhi's mother, Astha, Sia... Simran herself.. All of them have changed their personalities in away or another, positively or negatively, they have changed some how..

I don't know whether what I wrote makes sense.. I was writing from the top of my head.. 😆

Wonderful topic btw, and great points from you all... 👏

In my opinion Astitva is not a stupid serial.I agree with most of our members who said that there is so much to learn from this serial. It may have it's flaws but then it's a TV serial and the director has to cater to the masses first in India and then overseas

The subject is bold and unconventional, even today by Indian standards. It is commendable that Ajai Sinha has manged to take it in it's 3rd year in this era of popular saas-bahu soaps.

It's the only serial which has no melodrama,or palatial sets to show the characters' affluence or actors draped in silks and suits and decked up like bride and grooms. It's simplicity and closeness to reality is what attracted me to this serial.

I love the fact that for the first time in a serial,a woman is shown to live in dignity even after going through a betrayal in marriage. The platonic relationship between Simran and Manas was well received by one and all.

The most realistic thing about this serial is that no one has been shown to be perfect. Some of us felt that Simran is portrayed as perfect.Infact,no.She is as human as others. Her interference in Abhi's marriage, her not being able to accept Ria in Manas's life, her getting upset with Manas for making her face the truth(for a while atleast),her not telling Gudiya the truth about her real mother because of her own insecurity are her weaknesses. She is shown to be a good person from the beginning with high morals, good values and principles so they can't show her scheming and cunning to show her imperfectness. They can only show her weaknesses.

I do believe that there are humans like her who are very good at heart but make mistakes and hurt others unintentionally.

I feel the same about Abhi and Saurabh and even Abhi's mom.I mean they seem like normal people we come across in our day to day life.I used to be a little surprised by Abhi's dad's goodness.

Astitva is a beautiful serial according to me.I shall miss it when it ends.Hope there is a rerun or atleast DVDs are made available. It's like some of those Pakistani serials, watchable several times over.

Just my thoughts,friends.

Cheers,

Akshata

I do not think that Astitva is a stupid drama, infact in this day and age of
dumb "saas-bahu" dramas it stands out as being sensible and true to life.
The characters are not supposed to be perfect, just as no one is in real
life. One can identify with most of cast. Most of us have seen a little bit of
Simran, Saurabh, Astha or even Abhi in people around us. Yes the
characters are flawed but this is what makes them unique and special.

Akshata, I completely agree with you. Astitva shows that people are not perfect. The reactions of both Sia and Aastha are justified. Simran not telling Aastha about not being her biological mother shows that she is scared of losing her daughter again. All natural reactions to the situations at hand!

I really like the episode where Bhavani makes Abhi realize that by living the life of a recluse and trying to atone for his mistakes, he was running away from responsibility! There are a few lessons to be learned.

Astitva is very different from the saas bahu serials that are so popular and that's what I like about it.
