Yeh Jaadu Hai Jinn Ka Review: A Magical Love Story In An Enigmatic Wonderland!

If you are fond of supernatural fantasy dramas and are bored of the naagins and chudails, this might be a nice change for you.

Yeh Jaadu Hai Jinn Ka

Producer of several hit shows like Ishqbaaz, Nazar and Kullfi Kumarr Bajewala, Gul Khan recently launched a brand new supernatural fantasy show Yeh Jaadu Hai Jinn Ka. Featuring Vikram Singh Chauhan and Aditi Sharma in the lead roles, the show revolves around a Jinn and the repercussions of his wishes that a family and especially a young man faces. It’s also a love story between a Nawab who is under the Jinn’s black shadow and a prostitute’s daughter who is blessed with angelic qualities.

Here is a small analysis and review of the show:

Plot:

The show starts with three friends in a car talking about Jinn and his demonic traits. One of them tries to convince another that Jinns do exist and while it helps people in fulfilling their wishes, but in exchange the Jinn also takes something from the people, and it’s not easy to get rid of it. Soon, we see an extremely huge black shadow nearing towards their car, a human like creature with black hoodied robe; the creature is Jinn. The Jinn then destroys the car. Next, we are introduced to Aman Junaid Khan (Vikram Singh Chauhan), a Nawab with magical powers and a pet eagle named Bazigar. Aman is under the influence of Jinn, whose mystery is connected to his dead father who did horrible things with Jinn’s help but now the repercussions of his wrong deeds and Jinn’s evil intentions are haunting Aman. His mother and grandmother are terrified as they believe that Jinn will get what he wants from Aman. Meanwhile, the makers also set the plot that Aman’s family is preparing for his marriage.

On the other hand, we are introduced to Roshni (Aditi Sharma), daughter of a tawaif who is blessed with angelic qualities. She too has a mysterious past as Aman’s father, for some reasons threw her in the river when she was a new born baby and thereafter she was found and raised by a tawaif. Roshni aspires to open her own bakery.

As the story progresses, Aman and Roshni meet at a dargah where they have come to pray for New Moon celebration. We see that Jinn tries to get close to get close to Aman so that he can transfer ill powers to him, but Roshni somehow comes in between and saves the day. Later, Jinn destroys the dargah and Aman with the help of his pet baazigar, (who can magically turn into a wand) utters a spell- ‘Kiya Mifa’ and instantly the time stops.

What is the mystery of Jinn and his connection with Aman? How will he compete with the Jinn and what is Roshni’s role in his life is what the story is all about.

Performances:

Vikram Singh Chauhan as Aman Junaid Khan is a treat to watch. He looks flamboyant and handsome in his character. Aditi Sharma as Roshni is a good choice for the role. The innocence and simplicity comes naturally on her face. We approve Vikram and Aditi’s charismatic on-screen pair.

Set Design & Background Score:

The title song of the show is the highlight and is extremely melodious and refreshing. Other background scores are neither too impressive nor too distracting. However, the narration could have been better. Set design and special effects are commendable.

Screenplay & Direction:

The story seems to be strong and is creating curiosity and we like the flow of the narrative which is neither too slow nor too fast. The concept of Jinn is a first on Hindi television and if the screenplay is kept crisp and tight, the show will sure become an instant hit amongst fans of fantasy.

Verdict:

Gul Khan sure knows how to find out of the box yet intriguing stories. Much like how Nazar became a trendsetter, Yeh Jaadu Hai Jinn Ka too seems to be a unique narrative. If you are fond of supernatural fantasy dramas and are bored of the naagins and chudails, this might be a nice change for you.

Another classic show by Gul Khan. Out of all her shows my personal favourites are Qubool Hai and Nazar. The first episode was just whimsical and I really liked it. I have also started re-watching Kasautii because one of my favourite actresses Aamna Shariff (who played Kashish in Kahiin Toh Hogaa” will play Komolika.

But what makes me sad is that 7pm slot of Star Plus is permanently jinxed (Karn Sanginii, Sarvagunn Sampanna, Namah none could cross 1 TRP mark) thus I wish Saathiya season 2 is launched to consolidate 7pm slot.

Anyways ever since Star axed the beautiful show Saathiya, people have immensely showered their love on 7pm slot of Zee. Yeh Teri Galliyaan is the clear and deserving slot leader of 7pm slot.
