World Rose Day: Arjun Kapoor to illuminate Mumbai with crimson lights

India’s most wanted star Arjun Kapoor is always on the forefront when it comes to supporting initiatives helming important causes. Right from promoting the  ‘Girl Rising’ initiative for the education of young girls, to endorsing the World Wide Nature Fund, the actor has never stepped back from lending his helping hand in any possible manner.

This time, the actor has come forward to support children battling with Cancer. This initiative is very personal as well as special for Arjun, as he had lost his mother Mona Shourie Kapoor to cancer. 

Arjun has committed to making the World Rose Day, celebrated on September 22 worldwide, extra special for cancer patients. He will be painting Mumbai red by illuminating the iconic landmark of Bandra-Worli Sea Link with crimson lights. In collaboration with the Cancer Patients Aid Association, the actor will be spending time with young bravehearts battling the ailment and will be handing over roses and gifts to the kids who will join him for this occasion.

“It is a cause that’s extremely close to me for very personal reasons. I will do whatever it takes to create awareness about cancer, support as many who are affected by it and try and tell as many that only our spirit can make us fight this disease. I’m looking forward to meeting these little bravehearts who are battling cancer with a smile. Their courage is inspiring and heartbreaking,” DNA quoted Arjun as saying.

World Rose Day is observed each year in the memory of 12-year-old Melinda Rose from Canada. She was diagnosed with Askin's Tumour, a rare form of blood cancer.
