A recent interview of Reem Sameer Shaikh, where she spoke about never getting married or being in a relationship outside her faith because she prays namaz five times and has also started fasting recently, left netizens divided. While the debate on her statement is still ongoing, we recently spoke to Sumbul Touqeer Khan about the same and the actress shared her views.

Reacting to Reem’s statement on never marrying or being in a relationship outside her faith, Sumbul says, “It's a choice. See, if we're talking about love, sometimes you just fall in love with someone, you don't see their religion first. You just fall in love with them. And what's wrong with that? I don't even know why is this such an issue and I am a Muslim, and you know if I fell in love with a Muslim guy. Nothing is wrong with that. If I fall in love with a Hindu guy, nothing wrong with that. If I fall in love with a Christian guy, nothing is wrong with that, what's wrong? And if I choose to marry in my religion or I don't, how does that matter? It is a person's choice and that's okay. Yes. Is pe bhi abhi aayenge log. But okay. Live your life come on

The actress also recalled playing Lord Shri Krishna and Shri Radha Rani in dance plays growing up, and revealed that these were choreographed by her father. When asked if she ever faced any difficulties in the said plays because of her being from a different faith and she shared that she has not experienced such distinctions within her upbringing. “Nahi. And agar kiya bhi hoga to mujhe nahi pata because I was too young to like you know for my father to tell me anything like that because it is a very different and very difficult issue actually because I don't see anything wrong with this or all of my main performances that my dad has choreographed, they have always been inspired by Hindu mythology. He has choreographed Shiv Tandav, he has choreographed Hanuman Chalisa and he has choreographed Mahabharat, he has done everything. So I don't think there is differentiation should be done anywhere. I really believe ki humein na sabse pehle humanity follow karni chahiye. That should be our soul religion and uske baad you follow your own faith. But don't forget humanity. Aur abhi wahi sab topics chal rahe hain. Abhi har jagah wahi chal raha hai. And it breaks my heart to see people differentiate between each other ki aap alag dharm ke ho, aap is dharm ke ho. Maine jabki apne ghar mein kabhi aisa nahi dekha hai. So it really upsets me that why can't people be humans?,'' Sumbul told us.

The conversation highlights how deeply personal beliefs around love and faith continue to spark public debate, while also reflecting the importance many young actors place on individuality, empathy and coexistence. In the end, both perspectives underline a simple idea that while faith may guide personal choices, respect for humanity remains a common ground that goes beyond boundaries.
