Rishi Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor had a troubled relationship in the past but now with time, things have changed and the two share a great bond. In many interviews, Ranbir and Rishi have spoke about how their father-son relationship wasn't that smooth as it should have been.

While Rishi has spoken about how his anger affected his relationship with his son, RK too has revealed that as a child, he used to be petrified of his father.

Today, on throwback Thursday an old interview of Ranbir talking about his dad has gone viral. In the interview the Sanju actor has revealed that Rishi Kapoor once slapped him for wearing shoes in the Puja area. As per the article, it was some puja at the Kapoor residence and at that time Ranbir was just 12-years-old and back then he wasn't aware that one should not wear shoes in the puja area.

So unknowingly, he stepped in the worship place wearing his shoes and seeing that Rishi (who is known for his short-temper) lost his calm and without thinking twice he slapped him hard in front of everyone. He didn't even take a moment to explain RK that one should not be wearing shoes in the place of worship.

In 2015 during his interview with Mumbai Mirror, Rishi had opened up about his strained relationship with his son. He was quoted saying,

He’s a great son, he listens to me but I don’t interfere in his career because my career is mine and his is his. I know I’ve screwed up my relationship with Ranbir even though my wife kept telling me about what I was doing. It’s now too late to change it; both of us will not be able to adjust to the change. It’s like there’s this glass wall, we can see each other, we can talk, but that’s it. He doesn’t live with us anymore, which is also a very big setback to Neetu and me.

However, this strained relationship saw a drastic change when Rishi Kapoor moved to New York for his treatment for cancer. Ranbir Kapoor was by his father throughout and it gave them the time to connect as father and son.
