Did you know that Deepika, a.k.a Sandhya of Star Plus' Diya Aur Baati Hum was handling her family business before entering the television industry?

Well, here it is. Deepika speaks to TellyBuzz in What If… wherein she opens up about her alternate profession.

What would you be if not an actor?

"I would have been a businesswoman had I not been an actor.Basically I am from Delhi and when I was back at home, I used to manage our family business. We have a garments business and also a shirt manufacturing factory. Before Diya Aur Baati Hum happened I was doing my MBA.

Tell us something about your journey?
Along with my course, I used to handle the business. And I was doing pretty well.That's the reason my parents were surprised when I said I wanted to become an actress. After doing well in my MBA, they were actually surprised when I chose acting from all the other available options. But they were never against my decision.

After my MBA,I started off like any other struggler in the industry by giving auditions everywhere. Finally Diya Aur Baati Hum happened.. The education has helped me a lot me in connecting with Sandhya because she is also a great learner and lover of books, just like me."
