Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 21 (IANS) Kerala's lush green fields, idyllic backwaters and lagoons are being promoted for honeymoon tourism and glimpses of it can be seen in Star Plus' daily soap 'Bidaai'.

Kerala Tourism has entered into a marketing arrangement with Star Plus TV and acted as the facilitator for shooting six episodes of the soap in the coastal state, an official said.

The cast and crew of 'Bidaai', aired on Star Plus TV during weekdays, were in Kerala for 10 days to shoot the honeymoon episodes of newlywed sisters in the prime time serial.

The honeymoon sequences were shot at Munnar, Thekkady, Allepey, Kumarakom and Kovalam with the support of Kerala Tourism department, the official said.

All the popular scenic attractions of the state including tea plantations, a beach scene and the romantic houseboat in the backwaters have all been filmed, the Kerala Tourism official said.

'This will be shown in six episodes, starting Monday, on Star Plus channel,' the official told IANS.

'We want to raise the profile of Kerala with the domestic market as a honeymoon destination,' said M. Sivasankar, director Kerala Tourism.

'Kerala's coast and countryside as a destination for couples and the honeymoon will remind viewers of the landscapes that Kerala is so famous for and motivate them to visit the place,' he added.
