Wajid Khan’s Funeral: Body to be Buried at Versova Cremation Ground, Wife and Kids Arrive

Bollywood music director-singer Wajid Khan of the popular musical duo Sajid-Wajid passed away on Monday in Mumbai at the age of 42. Wajid underwent a transplant recently and succumbed to kidney infection complications. There are also reports that the singer was battling Coronavirus and died out of COVID-19.

In an interaction with news agency PTI, music composer Salim Merchant confirmed the cause of Khan's death. He revealed that the singer-composer was admitted in Chembur's Surana Hospital a few days ago where his condition deteriorated.

"He had multiple issues. He had a kidney issue and had a transplant a while ago. But recently he got to know about kidney infection... He was on the ventilator for the last four days, after his situation started getting worse. Kidney infection was the beginning and then he got critical," Salim said in his statement to PTI.

Wajid’s sudden demise has left his family and friends in shock. It is reported that his last rites will take place at Versova Burial ground, where his body will be buried. His body is being taken from the Suvarna Hospital, Chembur to the same cremation ground where late actor Irrfan Khan's funeral took place. 

His brother Sajid Khan has arrived for the funeral. Wajid's wife and kids also snapped at the funeral to pay their last respects.

Wajid along with brother Sajid made their debut as music directors with Salman Khan’s Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya. They went on to compose music for several Salman movies like Hello Brother, Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge, Garv, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Partner, God Tussi Great Ho, Wanted, Main Aurr Mrs Khanna, Veer and Dabangg (1, 2 and 3) among more.

Some of Wajid’s popular songs include Soni De Nakhre, Jalwa, Hud Hud Dabangg and Chinta Ta Ta Chita Chita. His last work was also for his godfather Salman Khan for the song ‘Bhai Bhai’ that was released on Eid a few days ago.
