Over the years, Vivek has turned down various films for a variety of reasons, however they are yet to be unknown. During a media interaction, Vivek Oberoi had said that he was offered Rajkumar Hirani's 2003-film Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. and although he had given his nod for the film, but due to date issues, the film went to Sanjay Dutt because Oberoi couldn't adjust his dates. "I wanted to do Munnabhai, I said yes to it, but destiny had it that it was supposed to be a Sanjay Dutt film. I couldn't adjust my dates," said the actor.
Munna Bhai MBBS went on to win the 2004 National Film Award for Best Popular Film and several Filmfare Awards. Munna Bhai MBBS starred Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani, Gracy Singh and Sunil Dutt.
