Actor Vipul Roy is a happy and has been the same especially for over two months now. The actor, as we know, tied the knot with Melis Atici back on 27th December 2021. As one would remember, the wedding was an intimate affair and was only attended by their families and friends at a temple in Juhu.

The couple's journey to marriage was a long one indeed as they had to wait two years to get married. Talking about it with ETimes TV, Roy said, “We got engaged in October 2018 and had been looking to get married for the last three years, but the pandemic played spoilsport. It made no sense to delay it any further. So, we decided to exchange vows in a simple ceremony on December 27. We managed everything in just seven days. I felt sad for Melis as none of her family members couldn’t make it to the wedding on such short notice. My friends made up for it and represented the bride (smiles).”

Interestingly not many know that the couple was actually set to tie the knot on 13th February 2022 but they went on to prepone the date. Why did that happen and Roy answers, “I had to alter the original plan because of technical reasons pertaining to Melis’ visa. She had applied for the tourist visa but was granted a single-entry one for 30 days. That initiated a little panic and it wasn’t possible to keep the date that was finalised originally. "

He added, "We had also thought of a registered marriage on December 27 to procure a spouse visa, which would have allowed Melis to stay back in India, and have one replete with all rituals on February 13. However, we learnt that we needed to give the registrar a 30-day notice. So, that, too, was ruled out and we had to get married in December itself. Of course, Melis’ mother was upset with this sudden change in the plan but after we explained the situation to her, she and my mother encouraged us to get married.”

Concluding on the fact that how did the impromptu decision turn out to be, he said, “I guess it was God’s decision and it can’t get better than that. I am really happy that we made this decision and it has been the best one so far."
