Tollywood star Vijay Deverakonda passed some shocking remarks about Shahid Kapoor's recently released film Kabir Singh, which is a Hindi remake of Vijay's Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy starring Shalini Pandey in the female lead. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film grossed over Rs 220 crore mark at the box office.
Recently, at an event of his upcoming film Dear Comrade, Vijay was asked if he has any plans to watch Kabir Singh, to which he shared that he has no interest in watching Shahid Kapoor starrer Kabir Singh.
According to Cinema Express, Deverakonda replied, "Shahid has done that film, and he has gone through the character, and there is nothing for me to watch it again. I know the story, I have done that film, why will I watch again?" He further added, "I wanted the Hindi film to be a big hit because Sandeep is my man. But unexpectedly, it became a blockbuster. Done. No more discussion there."
Reportedly, Kabir Singh has went on to become the highest-grossing Bollywood film of the year. However, despite a great box office collection, a section of audience and critics bashed the film for glorifying toxic masculinity.
During a recent interview with Anupama Chopra, Sandeep Vanga made controversial statements in defence of his film. He said, “If you can’t slap, if you can’t touch your woman wherever you want, if you can’t kiss, I don’t see emotion there.”
