Vidya Balan gets emotional as she receives an award, donning a saree gifted by Lata Mangeshkar

On 24th April, the Shanmukhananda Hall in Mumbai was filled with music, drama, and accolades as the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Award function was held to commemorate the 81st memorial anniversary of the Late Master Deenanath Mangeshkar. The event is organized by the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Smruti Pratishthan, Pune, a Registered Public Charitable Trust established and nurtured exclusively by the Mangeshkar Family over the last 33 years.

The award function witnessed the presence of renowned personalities from different fields, and the legendary songstress, Lata Mangeshkar, presented the prestigious Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Award to actress Vidya Balan. Vidya, an ardent fan of Lataji, became emotional while receiving the award and revealed that she was wearing a saree gifted to her by Lata Ji.

During the ceremony, Vidya Balan became emotional and revealed that she was wearing a saree gifted by the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. Vidya expressed her admiration for Lataji and recalled calling her after watching her perform at an event. Upon hearing her divine voice, Lataji sent Vidya a saree as a gift, a great boon to her. Vidya always wanted to wear the saree and show it to Lataji, and she finally got the chance to do so on this occasion.

For the unversed, Hridayesh Arts organized the music and dance program, and Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Smruti Pratishthan and Hridayesh Arts jointly organized the 81st Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Punyatithi. The event was a fitting tribute to the memory of the Late Master Deenanath Mangeshkar, showcasing India's rich cultural heritage.
