Varun Dhawan’s Mr Lele Is Not Happening At Present, Confirms Shashank Khaitan; Warns Against Fake Calls For Auditions

Back in January, Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions had announced the third collaboration between Varun Dhawan and Shashank Khaitan in the upcoming film titled Mr.Lele, after Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania, which were a hit at the box office.

The comedy thriller film was first slated to feature Kiara Advani alongside Varun but after Kiara walked out of the film citing date issues, the film passed onto Janhvi Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar.

However, it looks like the film will have to wait as filmmaker Shashank Khaitan has confirmed that the film is not happening at present. In an Instagram post, Shashank also warned the audience against fake audition calls and revealed that a man named Nitesh Sharma is claiming to the casting director for the film and asking money from people in return for auditions.

In his statement, Shashank Khaitan said, "URGENT - I have received many messages and emails from actors that someone, going by the name Nitesh Sharma Casting, is claiming to be a casting director for Dharma Productions and the film Mr Lele. He is asking for money for auditions and other favours. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS FALSE... No one by this name works for Dharma. Also we are not casting for Mr Lele, as the film is not happening at present (sic)."

He wrote alongside the post, "Please be aware of all such people claiming to be from Dharma Productions. Mr Lele is not happening right now. We are not casting for it. Please do not get scammed by such frauds. Please take care. Be safe (sic)."

Previously, Varun had shared the first look of Mr.Lele on his social media, and the film was scheduled to release on January 1, 2021, but in March, Shashank announced that Mr Lele has been postponed.

It looks like fans will have to wait for further updates...
