TV Actors we think would pull off these PATRIOTIC roles

On the occasion of India's 70th Independence Day, we have a very different kind of feature to present to you guys.

"At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom."

You must have guessed already, that is goosebumps raising line is from our country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru's first speech in Independent India.

And now 70 years later, we are an independent nation who has also witnessed some of the most patriotic pop culture presentations over time. So, on the occasion of the 70th Independence Day of India, we would like to present you guys with a piece on how we feel that these television actors could step in and recreate the magic of the below patriotic feature presentations.

Disclaimer: This feature is a result of imagination and interpretation which leaves no scope for critique. We do not intend to hurt the sentiments of the audience or their feelings towards it.

Border

Whenever epic war dramas are recollected, Border is one of the first films to come to our minds.

Iqbal Khan as Kuldip Singh Chaudhari (Sunny Deol)

According to us, there is only one actor in the television industry could pull off a Sunny Deol in the cult war drama Border and that is Iqbal Khan. Not only Iqbal fits the bill of the valiant Kuleep Singh Chandpuri physically, but can also pull of the intense patriotic vibe that Sunny's character portrays in the entire film. It can be recalled that Iqbal was a part of an Indian Air Force drama Choona Hai Aasman on television, where he played the role of Officer Abhimanyu Adhikari and being cast in yet another patriotic drama would be a treat for one and all.

Kunal Karan Kapoor as Bhairon Singh (Suneil Shetty)

Suneil Shetty's character Bhairon Singh was a devout patriot in the film Border whose solo aim in life was to serve his country. We can visualize actor Kunal karan Kapoor in Suneil Shetty's shoes when it comes to portraying a calm demeanor. And like Iqbal Khan, Kunal was also a part of an army drama show Left Right Left which was a cult. Bhairon's friendship with Dharamveer (Akshaye Khanna) was one to look-out for and Kunal's on-screen characters justify him being Bhairon even more.

Leenesh Mattoo as Dharamveer Bhan (Akshaye Khanna)

Akshaye Khanna's character of Dharamveer was a beautifully written character, who had several intricacies and was shown as someone who evolved throughout the film. A character, once berated by his senior for not killing an infiltrator (because Dharamveer had never killed anyone and hesitated), soon proved to him, what he was capable of. And according to us, Leenesh Mattoo would be the perfect fit for Akshay Khanna's role in the film given the child-like vibe the actor has just like the character does along with the bravura too when needed.

Shabbir Ahluwalia as
Umar Shariff (Jackie Shroff

Jackie Shroff's character of Wing Commander Umar Shariff opened as well as concluded the film, as he played an Indian Army Air Force Officer, who reaches the battle lines with his squad in the nick of time, to support the 'last man standing' Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri and guides the Indian Army to victory. Having a personality as impactful as Jackie's, Shabbir would ace paying Umar Shariff and even though he may not have much screen-time, it would be enough to leave a lasting impression.

Lagaan

Ashish Sharma as Bhuvan (Aamir Khan)

Lagaan is a the path-breaker of Indian cinema which needs no description for sure. And we could not find a better match than Ashish Sharma to play the iconic role of Bhuvan (Aamir Khan). Like the perfectionist himself, Ashish is also well known in the industry for his unconventional choices and every role that Ashish has taken up so far has been in sharp contrast from his previous project. Plus, having seen Ashish play a rugged man in Rangrasiya, we are convinced that he could easily pull-off playing a rebellious peasant against a British authority.

The Legend Of Bhagat Singh

Ssharad Malhotra as Bhagat Singh (Ajay Devgn

Another actor, who is known for his quality of work in the industry is none other than Ssharad Malhotra. Three of his shows so far have seen the actor play a varied selection of roles (a mentally challenged man, a historical character and a romantic hero) which established a fact that Ssharad Malhotra is a fine actor. Stepping into Ajay Devgn's shoes in The Legend of Bhagat Singh and play the titular character is a prospect that is alluring as Ssharad, who played the role of the intense Maratha warrior/ king Maharana Pratap, could play Bhagat Singh with ease.

Lakshya

Namik Paul as Karan Shergill (Hrithik Roshan)

Though it is hard for us to imagine Namik play the spoilt, aimless and bratty Karan in (the first half) Lakshya, we can easily visualise the hunk play a dedicated Army officer in the latter half. From the tall frame to the looks and the personality along with a certain level of intensity that Hrithik's character Karan required in the war film, Namik has it all. Wait! With Namik having portrayed Shravan in Ek Duje Ke Vaaste, he does justify the 'seriousness' of it.

Swades

Shaheer Sheikh as Mohan Bhargava (Shah Rukh Khan)

Shah Rukh Khan's acting skills cannot be questioned when it comes to working in some of the most amazing films and Swades was one such masterpiece. And when it comes to the choice of who can fit the bill, the acting prowess of Shaheer Sheikh cannot be questioned either. We can totally relate to Shaheer Sheikh playing the intelligent and sophisticated Indian working with NASA, but also someone who hasn't forgotten his Indian roots. With having portrayed subtlety as Dev in Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi, he justifies being Mohan too.
