Trailer Review: Befikre

A movie said to be extremely close to his heart, Befikre is touted to be an experimental movie made on an extremely low budget (in comparison to the rest of Chopra's movies).

After a gap of seven years, ace director-filmmaker Aditya Chopra has everyone excited with the announcement of his upcoming directorial venture, Befikre. A movie said to be extremely close to his heart, Befikre is touted to be an experimental movie made on an extremely low budget (in comparison to the rest of Chopra's movies). Bollywood's new favorite, Ranveer Singh plays the role of the protagonist, and he is accompanied with the gorgeous Vaani Kapoor, who was last seen in Shuddh Desi Romance (2013).

The trailer opens with Dharam (Singh) and Shyra (Kapoor) casually discussing about never saying "I love you" to each other, and its French translation. We then see how the duo meet in a whirlwind of scenes, which end with a one night stand where Shyra doesn't want to stay in touch with Dharam as she recently turned single. The rest of the trailer shows the viewers a myriad of scenes of the duo spending time together, partying it up, making out, and even a striptease.

Befikre promises to be a breezy new age love story set in Paris, the city of love. Chopra's direction is top notch, as always, but we are unable to say the same about his writing. The trailer hasn't revealed much of the storyline, but from what one can make out, there doesn't seem to be anything much to the story. Namrata Rao, as the editor, has done an average job - it's one thing to leave a sense of mystery surrounding the trailer to excite the audiences, but it is totally another to have no story whatsoever. We think the trailer needs to reveal something about the story, else what is supposed to drag viewers to the theatres?

After the immense success of Bajirao Mastani (2015), Singh returns with a light hearted movie, a welcome change for his loyal fanbase. Kapoor, who'd debuted with Shuddh Desi Romance (2013) and went on to work in the Tamil/Telugu remake of Band Baaja Baraat (2010), Aaha Kalyanam (2014), returns to Bollywood with Befikre. It's a far cry from her last role, and we hope she leaves a mark on the viewers.

The music of this film has been composed by the talented duo Vishal Shekhar, who reunite with lyricist Jaideep Sahni. The team is returning to work for the YRF banner after almost 9 years, and from what little we've heard in the trailer, they've done a swell job with the music. Much like the trailer, the music is light and breezy, and brings an instant smile to the listener's face. A special kudos goes to Mikey McLeary for the background score, which is definitely one of the highlights of the trailer.

Japanese cinematographer Kaname Onoyama has done a wonderful job in filming Befikre. He has captured the picturesque locales and ornate sets rather magnificently. Along with Chopra's direction and vision, Onoyama has made this movie a visual treat for all to see, judging from the trailer.

While the trailer didn't live up to the hype, we at BollyCurry sincerely hope that the movie proves us wrong, and blows the audience's mind away. For now, we rate this trailer a 3 on 5.

Befikre's trailer released a few hours ago to much fanfare at the Eiffel Tower, and simultaneously on YouTube and Facebook. We urge you to check out the trailer and let us know what you think of it in the comments below, and wish Chopra's team at YRF all the very best for this movie.

Ranveer seems to suit only the intense roles romantic roles are not his thing. Whenever i see him in a romantic movie like this I feel like he is out of place.

i am a huge ranveer singh fan and i like him more in action/intense period films..the trailer did not reveal much in terms of story therefore i will have to see the film to actually get the essence of it..but will watch it for ranveer!

I did not like the trailor, not something which I would keep watching again n again. I am a Ranveer fan but there is a Lack of chemistry also bet them! No comparison to ADHM but that trailor can be watched a zillion times!

no offense but didn't find any chemistry between the leads..The girl looks bad, nor her acting is great either

Super duper disgusting trailer. Another movie made just to corrupt the society.

This movie will be enjoyed only by "lukkha" people who cover majority of today's generation!

Definitely not what I expected. There is nothing in the trailer to keep you hooked.
Ranveer & Vaani don't seem to click in terms of chemistry either..

Last of all, what happened to Vaani Kapoor? She looks so weird through out the trailer Hair, makeup..looks..costumes.. it was horrible.

On the whole...total disappointment.
